I've been getting a Monster Hunter feel from the game, myself. Started playing last month and ended up having to take a bunch of breaks because of reasons.

I'm slightly sad that a lot of the larger monsters don't decide to just sit down on top of you if you're standing right below their legs.

So DSfix has been taken down by Fromsoft(or rather a company hired by them). This was supposedly a mistake but it still isn't back.

It was Namco Bandai. It's just another case of executives at a major Japanese video game company being out of touch.

I just finished playing through both Dark Souls games a second time! In every play-through however, I've been a big ol' armoured wall with a +15 claymore. Anybody have recommendations for playing the game as something a bit different? Maybe a mage? If so, what builds would you recommend?

Cheers!

As a guy who's main form of play in DS1 was large weapon and shield, and continued that on into DS2 for the first run, going no shield dual wielding in DS2 is a fucking blast and the only way I can play the game anymore.

DS2 is super heavy on learning how to roll, once you figure out how to do it right (since it's kind of weird compared to DS1 and DeS) you can basically be fucking invincible.

Power-stancing is also just incredibly powerful to compensate for the lack of a shield. You can easily go with a quality build and two longswords and you'll be fucking set for life. Get your hands on two sun swords and welcome to damage city population: you.

Power stancing is actually the only thing I miss when playing DS1, mostly because playing with two ultra greatswords is the cheesiest, most fun thing in the world.

Just got invaded for the first time in Dark Souls II. I don't really know what area because I was super lost at that point. Somewhere after Huntsman's Copse I think. Lot of Skeletons. Anyway, dude with a scythe comes at me while we're on a ledge. I block, stun him, and gently push him off the ledge. I assume they've never tried to fight someone on a narrow ledge before.

That sounds like the scripted AI invader that appears near the end of the region just before the area boss. The AI invaders take more risks than a player would because they're not very bright and they feel no fear.

I guess I walked almost straight up to the Skeleton Lords fight. But yeah. That's the invader alright. Mystery solved, I was still in Huntsman's Copse.

Instead of making a bloodborne thread, I'll just use this one.

Anyone else hyped for it? Just now leaving to pick it up.
Gonna make the Milk-Toastiest character ever.

I don't have a PS4, so I can't play.

The game starts out weird but cool, and there is a lot to take in once you die for the first time.

So far the game is as beautiful as it is grotesque. So far I haven't done much story wise, souls games I tend to take my time on and take breaks in between lives. The suspense is real and I have a hard time dealing with it.

The ascetic is streets ahead the Souls games, a little more of a flair with the 1700's London style.

I got to the First Boss battle, The Cleric Beast. I was able to get it down to about 1/10 health before I exhausted all my healing items and was killed.
However my attacks felt like they were doing next to nothing.
Fortunately, after you either beat or die at the fight with the Beast, the character appears that will level you up from now on.

So now, grinding/getting gud
