I suppose the argument about her clothing not fitting the environment she's in is a fair point, though we can't rule out the possibility of her wearing different clothing later on. And we don't know how much of the game actually takes place in the desert. However, this is Kojima we're talking about here, he's known for being very determined and a control freak to a degree when it comes to stuff he wants to be included in his games, even if said content is nonsensical. MGS has always been kind of pseudorealistic in the sense that there's lots of stuff that's totally logical and passable but also content that's pretty daisies crazy to the point where you're better off just not wondering about it. I could see Quiet being one such case, where there's really no logical explanation for why she is like she is other than that it's how Kojima wanted her to be.

Also, about EVA, one explanation for her not zipping up her suit that I think is pretty clever is that it's supposed to make it easier for her to manipulate Snake (and by extension, the player) since his focus is uh, elsewhere.

Oh totally. EVA's overall design is expertly done, actually using the sex appeal for legitimate plot purposes on top of an already good character.

And your point about the environment is true, there's definitely a logical base for Quiet to be dressed lightly. The question is though, are other characters, female or male, going to be dressed similarly in that environment, or is it just her? That, and seeing what her character's like (because who knows, maybe she's in the same vein as EVA or Paz) will be the actual evidence of there being sexism or not, and considering the care the team put into past games and the fact that Kojima's saying there's more than meets the eye, I'm hoping none of this will actually be a problem.

I'd like to take this moment to point out that the current atmosphere when it comes to women and sexism in games and the industry is very much a recent Western phenomenon, or to be precise, an American one. You can't apply it to every developer around the world like it's the correct way to handle the situation because by the moment you cross the Pond, cultural differences come to play, especially since we're talking about a Japanese developer. If we were to look at the situation through Kojima's eyes, he might be wondering why people are stirring up drama about his creation, when he just wanted to create a sexy character and that he doesn't have to justify it to anyone.

Edit:

Make of it what you will.

The series has had similarly designed characters (read: T&A) since day one and Kojima has always been very open about it so I'm not sure how this comes as a surprise to anyone. Besides, we know nothing about the actual personality of Quiet or any of the other new characters and there's no reason why she couldn't have other positive qualities as well.

I'll never really understand the problem people have with attractive characters in media.

Exactly. Every single Metal Gear Solid game has utilized the sexualization of characters in various ways over the years. In a way, it's very much a core part of the series. This is just another example of the click-baiting "journalists" doing their job; jumping the gun at any scantily-clad character they see, attempting to make a mountain out of a molehill. It makes me sad that creators like Kojima and Kamitani have had their works come under fire from sensationalist journalism.

Dunno if anybody saw the english version of the Here's To You trailer, but yeah there you go.

Keifer's alright but the KYW,H? was kinda not good. I really just need to get use to him. Also I almost sorta like that Skullface sounds really professional instead of some kind of monster like I expected.

I'm not concerned with MGS V yet, it's at least a year away, but I just want new info on MGR for PC. They said "soon" in June and after that, nothing.

Finally, it only took them 4 months after the initial announcement to say something. Wish he had posted a better screenshot though.

That looks way better then the original.

I wonder if they'll fix weapon switching since they have more ram to play with. There are three whole D-pad buttons that don't have anything better to do anyway.

I remember hearing something about that, how was it on consoles?

Kojima also tweeted this.

There's a menu where you select the new weapon so the game has time to switch out your animations, move sets, etc. rather then being able to switch on the fly because the processor can't handle "knowing" four separate move sets and how the cutting system works at the same time.

It wasn't too bad but it kinda slows the pace down.

e: sombrero kojima why?

I wonder if they'll do a physical release of the PC version, I hope so. I'm also wondering about the price, Dark Souls was 40 bucks with the DLC 9 months after the console versions came out so I'm guessing we'll see a similar figure with MGR.

I don't have a gaming computer but whenever I get around to putting one together I'll totally pick up Revengence again, so I hope this turns out OK (looks like it will).

MGO1 is back. Not legitimately, mind you, it's a community project. I might give this a go.

Ground Zeroes is coming out by itself next spring! And it's only $30/$20 digitally. No word yet on Phantom Pain's release date but I'm super pumped anyway!

Oh no, the XBone version of GZ has got SNATCHERs? Dammit Microsoft, this time. I still won't buy your console but I will admit you got the cooler exclusive that ultimately will probably not matter.
