Alright guys, I've been told we've been set on hard again.


Why?


Why would you go back to what hardly anyone wanted?
And don't say "use towny" because I want to not die in mines or whatever because a skeleton catches me off gaurd.

Also, I don't want to pay 3 gold nuggets a day just to feel safe to go 5 feet outside my house. I want to be able to go outside my house, and still be able to protect myself without having to worry about anything raping my shit.

If the server was set to hard mode, there would be a post from one of the admins/proletariats about it as well as a change on the posts in the first page.

No such posts or changes have been made, thus: still normal mode.

Uhhhh yeah, since we couldn't find any solution to the creeper/mob deal we just have everything set to normal permanently. We won't be changing things to hard.

I was told we'd been set/were going to be set on hard mode too, but now I can't remember who told me. Normal mode is fine as it is haha.

Also, creeper repair is fantastic.

There's absolutely no excuse for not going hard mode now that we have Towny and plots are pretty cheap. With the added potions and enchantments, fighting mobs becomes way too easymode. And it's always been easy to protect regions with proper torch placement and fences etc..

Personally, I'd like to put it to a vote coz I'm quite confident more players appreciate the harder difficulty mode. This is, after all, a SURVIVAL multiplayer server. But I know if we do that, we'll get people throwing their toys from the pram and leaving anyway.

An alternative is to create a new world to run concurrently with the existing, so that people who want hard mode (and pvp re-enabled), can go there.

of those who bothered to speak up, we were about 50/50 on who wanted normal vs. hard

Of the people who are still relatively active on the server, you're still going to end up with a 50/50 vote, and of the people who didn't mind hard mode, they wouldn't leave if we stayed on normal. Others we have now will certainly leave if we put hard mode back on.

If you really want hard mode, then I say go for the multi-verse option. It will be a lot easier for people to handle.

Okay, first off, I refuse to pay for Towny because I have recently moved bases and am still trying to get established. I'm not mining every day, and I'm certainly not finding gold every day, and I don't want to PAY every day. Besides, Towny does not protect you from mobs when you're collecting resources. My house has fences and torches, but that does not help me when I'm actually out and about. And I already dislike traveling in caves because there is a high concentration of mobs in the area I'm at now, for some reason.

Second, because I am still getting myself settled in a new place, I also do not have the resources for tons of potions and enchantments. Fighting mobs is not 'easymode'.

There was a huge debacle a while ago about switching the server to hard mode, and a lot of people left because they just didn't want to put up with the increased difficulty. Just because the map is Survival doesn't mean players appreciate being slammed with the highest difficulty setting.

I've heard people discussing the creation of a mirror world, but that just sounds like too much trouble to me. I'm not sure how that would go down.
