Super Mario Galaxy was not the first game to do weird gravity, nor was it the first game to have things floating in the air. It was also not the first game to have platforming, be set in space, or have colors, and it was very much not the first game to have all of those at once. Every time someone says a game is like SMG I die a little bit inside because a solid all of the fucking time, the statement is wrong and the person has no idea what they are actually saying.

Super Mario Galaxy is not, on it's own, a very particularly inventive game. It plays with a concept in the way not very many games have, but it is not necessarily original. Super Mario 64 did a lot of 3D floating-platform jumping, so did Sunshine. Guess what other games did them? bodaciously every fucking 3D platformer ever, and quite a lot of 2D ones as well. For a game to be derivative of SMG, it would have to take the same concept, of platforming revolving around gravitational use, and do it in the same way. Otherwise, do you know what you have? Because it's not a SMG-look-a-like.

If you want to get down right the fuck deep into it, Sonic was already doing all this bullshit before Mario even made the attempt. The only difference is the camera angle didn't change with you. Going up and down and all around like that shit? Yeah, that's not SMG, that's fucking Death Egg.

Everyone compares every fucking game to SMG now and it pisses me the fuck off. The exact same thing was said about Colors. bodaciously the exact same thing. Why? Because Mario fucking invented space.
