How does extensive gameplay mean absolutely nothing?

I always found the story of games and the characters withing games more interesting than the actual gameplay, but that's just me.

Which isn't to say that the gameplay didn't look awesome, because it did!

The only qualm I have right now is the presence of the Bow AND the Slingshot. Like, they sort of added it into Twilight Princess because they knew that TP was going to be the first wii game that most people played. It was a demonstration of the basic motion-sensing capabilities but didn't really contribute to gameplay. I will only care for the Slingshot if it somehow functions differently than the Bow...maybe they'll bring back different types of ammo, like in the Oracle games? Doubtful, but it's a guess.

As for the story, I don't know if this has been posted, but...

(Stolen from Zelda Wiki, you can go check the sources if you're going to be so cleverly doubtful)
In this game, Link has lived his entire life in an island above the clouds known as Skyloft; however, one day, he discovers a land below, which is actually Hyrule,[11] but realizes that it is being overrun by evil forces and is forced to go there. As such, the young hero must spend his journey traveling back and forth between these two regions: Skyloft and the land below. According to Aonuma, the sky will play a very important role in the game.[12]

The Skyward Sword, which is the girl shown on the poster on E3 2009, possesses intelligence and will assume the semi-human form in the teaser poster. Eventually, the Skyward Sword will become the Master Sword. The Skyward Sword is also the driving force behind Link's traveling between the two lands and the sword will focus "heavily on the reason why there are two lands divided by a bank of clouds.
Guys
If he gets a hot air balloon we know that Nintendo stole this idea from the game we created in the Spirit Tracks thread.
Personally, I don't mind not hearing the story, but then I kinda think gameplay > story. (Then again, if a game has a good story, I don't want to know it before playing the game.)

Anyway, the new Zelda game looks great. Good thing my grandparents have a Wii.

I don't really get why people are getting hyped about Skyward Sword. I'm a die-hard Zelda fan and all, but when I heard the style was going to be cartoon-y I was let down. Watching the videos make me wanna vomit and then have seizures. The game play doesn't seem Zelda-like at all to me, even the short video I saw of Link verses the Scorpion Boss.

Its definitely going the route of trying to get more people to play. But the obnoxiously bright-colored landscapes and enemies are not really doing it for me. Even WW wasn't as obnoxious.

If you're such a purist, you should hate all the 3D Zeldas and worship A Link to the Past.
Twilight Princes doesn't feel like the original The Legend of Zelda.

That face in your avatar worked so perfectly with that statement...

I think what Nintendo is trying to do is sorta combine the romanticized feel of Twilight Princess with the user-friendly aspect of Toon Link.

His opinion is valid.
The only reason why people are so hyped is because it's Zelda.

are you serious? the gameplay generally doesn't look like it deviates from TP very much, the game just looks brighter. and what's "zelda-like" supposed to be? the series' art and style has changed with nearly every single game. also, where were you when wind waker came out? the game had even brighter landscapes, enemies, and cartoon bombs. and the landscapes are honestly more of a throwback to ocarina of time or majora's mask.

well, obviously people are hyped because it's zelda. it means a whole new game to play, and i'm pretty hyped from the seamless game to dungeon bit, along with the hard mode as promised. and no, hardly anyone is basing their opinions on just the trailer, but all the other information presented by nintendo. icesuicida's opinion is only based on the video, and he only complains about the art style, contradicting his statement about not being "zelda like", nothing about the other information we've been given.

I guess people are probably hyped that it's a new console Zelda, which we haven't had in four years or whatever. They're also probably excited because it blends artistic styles of TP and WW without straining for compromise. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could complain about this. It has elements of realism but is vibrant and inviting...it's like a dream.

But idk, maybe you don't like to dream.

NOTE: This is just a sassy rebuttal. You are entitled to your own opinion no matter how ill-supported.

This Zelda game was supposed to look like a living painting. I am so sick of all the butthurt that's been going on just because it's bright and colorful.
