Hey this game isn't half bad.

I hope it isn't time soaking and/or soul absorbing

It's an MMO
Of course it is

Also how is the event? I haven't logged in in ages and wondering if I should.

Event hasn't even started yet, really, just some patches and preparation.

Event starts around 20:00 GMT today (adjust that to your own timezone as you will) and will begin with some giant crabs smashing up Lion's Arch. According to people who've played it in advance, the enemies are pretty challenging and using LA as a combat zone is interesting.

Played through the Karka invasion. Vanilla Karka are nothing special. Veteran Young Karka have a really annoying Knockdown that lasts like 5 seconds but its fairly easy to kite because its melee-range only.

The mega-Karka are an booty, though. They're immune to physical damage and they dispel conditions after the first tick so you only get one hit from every instance of bleed, poison or burn you apply. They're harder to kill than the Dragon Lieutenants in the game.

Did some Karka shit, was laggy as shit and at some point I couldn't see them anymore and was just spamming AoEs while they died instantly when they spawned. Tried to do fractal dungeon but it was a butt and didn't work. Kind of disappointed so far.

Lost Shores Part 2: Seriously, where the fuck are the shores Boogaloo

Karka are much easier to fight with the new solvent thingy, and there was SO much less lag this time around. Southsun seems like a fun zone too, can't wait for the full release with all the vistas and hearts and whatnot.

I haven't encountered any major bugs, except for that the first time you play the mouse sensitivity is way up. But you just shut down and relog and everything's fine.

holiday event analysis from Mander:

Mucho bueno

The new jumping puzzle is much less frustrating than Mad King's Clocktower while still being challenging. Rewards, however, are just some holiday collectables versus the Exotic's you got from MK's.

The snowball fight PvP mode is also pretty cool, you can choose from one of three skillsets and they're fairly well-balanced. The new bell choir thing is just a needlessly complex Guitar Hero rip-off though.

hey..... does anybody still play this? I was thinking about picking it back up.

There's some sort of "big patch" coming which adds guesting(Ghosting into another server, but not able to do WvW), and some achievement bonuses which can be used to buy gear like amulets.

I'm still a rather active player, so you can ask me if you ever need a guy to play with.

And don't get too excited about the upcoming patch, except for that new Achievement system. Apparently the other content is fairly minor compared to the three big updates that have happened so far.

I still play but I mainly just hop on for some world completion grinding.

I still haven't tried WvW yet and I have no idea how to gear myself for it
