Not really, actually. I just looked it up on my 3DS to see. It's a infotainment video to promote their digital download service to buy games from the home. It's called "Mr. Download now" and focuses on the instant download feature, while highlighting that NSMB2 is the game you can download in that way.

It's more of a "hey did you know about this?" video disguised as a joke about "fighting the future" (hence the guy being beaten up) than an out and out ad.

From what you said first, it seemed like a blatant trailer video. I think it's kind of a cute/dorky way to get the point across, like the Non-specific Action Figure for the WiiU preview without hitting you over the head.

Jesus, 9-7 in NSMB: Wii is a major pain in the butt.

NSMB2 was dissapointingly short. I thought maybe after you beat World 6 you'd get 7 and 8. I unlocked The Coin World or whatever.

NSMB games are much easier than I like them to be. They don't need to be booty balls-to-the-wall hard as the original Mario games, but this is a bit too far in the other direction.

There technically are more worlds, you just need to find the right exits in other worlds to get to the Mushroom and Flower Worlds.

Fuck yes, NSMB2 was such a dissapointment, and I hope this one is just as fun as NSMBWii. I'm a little skeptical about the platforms and how they can break a level.

I think Nintendo kinda had to screw themselves with NSMB2.

They've wanted to do 1 NSMB game per console, and 2 came out at a really shitty time. If they had released 2 in place of 3D Land, it would have been better received, but they needed 3D Land to legitimize the console's approach. Meanwhile, the Wii U needs a Mario game to push consoles, so NSMBU becomes a focus for the launch window in the fall. However, at this point, the 3DS missed its installment, and if they released it after NSMBU, it would probably look pretty shitty, so they put it out now in the same year as NSMBU to give the 3DS it's game without alienating players.

Honestly though, I think they could have skipped NSMB2 entirely, or, since they knew they were going to double up this year, they should have added something to the game, like maybe getting 100% in 2 (not the million coins goal though), would allow you, when you synced up your 3DS to the Wii U, to unlock a new world or something in NSMBU.

Also, is anyone else getting kinda tired of the Koopalings now? I mean, they were gone for years, made a cameo in Superstar Saga, and now they're everywhere in the NSMB games.

It's a bit too much in the recent span of time, though I am liking the personalized airships in NSMBU.

Do you mean the mechanics in place to help (extra power ups and helphing hands like the golden tanooki) or the levels themselves? Because I didn't find the later levels distinctively easier than the old mario games.

I think it might be the fact that you get a million extra men throughout the course of the game coupled with the abundance of powerups so you don't die as often. And when you do it doesn't matter because "haw I have so many extra men"

That trailer actually looks really cool. The backgrounds are gorgeous, it seems like there's a couple good new concepts to the levels...The acorns are still stupid as shit though. ALSO, ALSO, IS IT JUST ME or did they get rid of that fucking horrendous NSMB overworld theme? Less BAHs too.

Seriously, NSMB2 is all BAHs.

Now if we could only get rid of the Koopalings permanently, I'd be a pop flyin' guy. Though it did look like the new trailer will give us slightly more original fights? (Roy was wielding a bill blaster?)

edit: Also is it actually possible to play as your Miis? That would be soooo much better than the Toads

Apperently the Koopalings aren't Bowser's offspring, and only Bowser Jr is now.

Discuss.
