How to unlock alternative costumes?

beat ladder with the character or find their alt's concept art in the kyrpt, once you've done that go to the Nekropolis and select their character to place their item on their altar.

I beat the ladder as Smoke and I unlocked Stryker's alt concept, but I'm unable to access them.

Yeah, but I can't access them in normal fights and stuff.

You press start on the character if you want an alt
Oress start again to use the secondary colour

Just watched a guy do a Let's Play of MK9's story mode.
Holy balls if/when I get this game I'm not gonna touch that shit with 10 ft. pole unless I have to. Shit looks fucking frustrating.

If you're talking about Shao Kahn / Goro -> fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, fireball, cutscene.

if anything it was a good introduction to a lot of characters and of course since its a reboot interesting for the MK Nostalgianists among us.

Story mode is really fun and sets you up for the inevitable buttfuck you get from online multiplayer
except for the Kintaro/Goro vs Cyber Sub Zero fight, man fuck that, and all the Shao Kahn fights
also if you dont do it you wont unlock Cyber Sub Zero and Quan Chi

I heard on an E3 video that once Netherrealm gets rolling with the character making they hope to release a DLC char every 2 weeks, and Skarlet is a matter of days away.
