Jolteon. You know you want an eeveelution with spikes on it.

And about Leafeon: when I had my first gen games a long time ago, I always thought there was some way to get my eevee to accept a leaf stone and become a Leafeon. I mean, all the other stones evolve it, why isn't there a Leafeon? Years pass, and I'm looking at the new Diamond and pearl pokemon, and what do I see? Leafeon. I laughed until tears came to my eyes.

Yeah, a lot of fans were wanting that.

Eevee doesn't react to the Moon Stone, though. Hmmm... A normal-type Eeveelution?

So a total of 84 power?

Despite that Thunderbolt does a total of 142.5 power against the same opponent? And has a 10% chance of paralysing them too?

And that's not counting the fact that Jolteon has a much higher Special stat than Attack stat?

You didn't really think this through, did you?

Well, I was also thinking of the max damage, which (against regular psychic Pokemon) is still not quite as much (there were some... errors in my calculations). Still, against dual types of poison/grass/psychic, it does more, even with its average damage (42 * 4 = 168). Nidoking and Nidoqueen are also weak to it and IMMUNE to Thunderbolt.

Edit: So I looked up the Gen 1 Learnsets for damaging moves. Eevee would only have normal-type moves. Flareon would have fire and normal, Vaporeon would have Ice, Water, and normal. Jolteon would have Fighting, Bug, Electric, and Normal. Vaporeon may seem like a good choice, BUT! He already has a Gyrados, which can learn those as well.

Also, in regards to fire Pokemon: How does getting Pokemon at the Rocket Gaming Corner work? Is that allowed? In Yellow, Vulpix is available there. Charmander also doesn't seem to be happiness-based, so he can likely get one by Nugget Bridge.

Basically this tells me that Eevee doesn't get a decent move until about lv. 46, and that I better evolve mine before lv. 31.
Also I just realized the Name Rater is in Lavender Town!
FUCK

I think maybe you should evolve Eevee at level 29, since I don't think they learn moves when they're at the level the move is supposed to be learned on.

Also I'd choose Vaporeon for Acid Armor defense or Jolteon for pure attacking... actually, Jolteon. It has pretty good speed so you can teach it Swift by TM instead of Quick Attack, and its natural moveset is already pretty diverse at an early level. Vaporeon would live longer, though...

Okay I looked at it a second time and Jolteon doesn't fit well with its naturally learned moves because most of them are physical in 1st gen and it has low Attack compared to Special. Vaporeon makes the most out of its Special stat, with Water- and Ice-type moves.

Flareon's just not very good in Yellow. :(

edit: why did I do all of that

Why are we talking about naturally learned moves? You teach Pokemon TMs, that's the way it's done.
