Ouch, this will involve making choices, won't it?
5- Ace Combat 5 - A quality semi-realistic combat flight simulator with colorful characters and a riveting storyline? Hell yes. Plus, there's something awesome about the fact that the main cast is simultaneously thought of as angels of death and demons of war.
4- Star Wars Battlefront II - By any stretch of the imagination, this game is not particularly superior to the other shooters out there, and it doesn't belong on a top 5 list. Nevertheless, for some reason this game has stuck to me, and I simply don't get tired of it. Maybe it's the fact that I get to be a destroyer droid and blow away enemies as an invincible god of the battlefield, or maybe it's the fast-paced dogfighting IN SPACE. Whatever it is, it's a game I keep returning to.
3- Shadow of the Colossus - Dude. Duuuuuude. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude. You killed mountains. You climbed living buildings and then killed them with NOT a giant buster sword, but a normal sized sword. For me, this game redefined the word "epic".
2- Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages - Oracle of Seasons was my first Zelda game, and ever since, I've fallen in love. To be fair, I haven't beaten a fair amount of the series, but it's high on my video game to-do list and I will always name LoZ as my favorite series because of it.
1- Legend of Legaia - Like #2, this game introduced me to something new. However, unlike the the Oracle games, Legaia didn't introduce me to a series; Legend of Legaia introduced me to video games.
At first, I was going to say that it introduced me to RPGs, which is true enough, and it is probably why I like RPGs a lot, but LoL was the first game I ever owned, and I don't think I would have even gotten into playing video games if it weren't for it. The thing is, no one else in my family plays video games (except my brother, but he picked it up from me), so I had a late start.
Sure, it has it's flaws, and plenty of them, but nonetheless, the epic storyline, the unconventional fantasy setting, and the clever combat system all made me step back and say, "Whoa, is this what video games are like? I've been missing out!" Now, ten years later, I regularly fish at the bargain bin in the local GameStop, play Rock Band with my friends on a normal basis, and a drawer in my living room is filled with PS2 games.

Sorry for the long explanation on that last one. When I thought of Legend of Legaia, I realized its influence on me, and my hands just started moving on their own. It's not my fault, I swear.
