I've listened to both Dummy! and Spider Dance a ridiculous amount of times because they're among my favourites from the OST and I never even noticed the similarities until now, woah.

Man aquabat who gives a crap, a lot of people see that ACT doesn't work and try FIGHT to put her HP low enough for SPARE to go yellow. "That happens all the time" my buttcheeks, if you hit monsters one or two times and not too hard their names turn yellow and you can SPARE them. There are definitely enough hints that you can just SPARE Toriel over and over but the game does make you think you can win in another way, don't pretend that's not the case dude, 'sides people can just make mistake or not pay attention it really doesn't matter.
Also that Froggit wasn't in the demo afaik

I feel the same way as Great Handsome Oppressor did in that post he wrote, plus: many players suddenly thrust into this fight and reading Toriel's "fight me or leave!" line will have a kneejerk reaction to choose the fight command, and they will readily remember the line a froggit makes about how you might need to hit an enemy a few times to spare them. They will remember that before "you may need to spare even if a name isn't yellow" because that is how memory amd priming work.

Following that typical train of thought, that is what many players thought they had to do.

And thegame throws you a ccurve ball that you would not see coming in a first time blind playthrough.

She doesn't say "Fight me or leave" until you hit Spare several times, and by then you should realize that if the dialogue changes every time you Spare then that's what you have to do.

This is a game telling you something outright and expecting you to remember it and make use of it. This is what video games do. No need to angrily lash out at me for it.

Yknow when Toriel said "Fight me or leave!" a friend of mine actually ran away from the fight, but seeing as it didn't work he decided to actually fight.

Also on the topic of Chara. How do you pronounce their name? Cha-ra or Ka-ra? I personally say Kara because Chara sounds like a shortening of character, which has a hard start.

So I named my character Chara, killed everything in the ruins and Flowey said "You're empty inside, like me." "We're still inseparable."
