You're just saying that because I forgot to say, "Page Get."

And the fact it just isn't true with present day storage capacity.

I'm inclined to agree - Pokemon Battle Revolution has the sprite data of all the current Pokemon in it.

Why that data can't be used to make a decent 3D Pokemon game I don't know.

If storage capacity is an issue just knock the polygon count down a bit.

You might get some ugly sprites, but I remember the good ol' Red and Blue days:

LOOK AT HOW CRISP AND NOT-PIXELLATED THE FOREGROUND SPRITE IS!

Seriously, why were the foreground sprites so awful in Red and Blue?

And I guess if Magnemite, Magneton and Magnezone had levitate they would be too powerful/difficult to knock out.

Or maybe they're just lazy Pokemon.

Maybe you're right. But you also have to include dialogue, areas, leveling up and random encounter calculations (IVs, EVs, appearance %), and... I dunno. There are probably lots of other information requirements, but I don't know the inner workings of a Pokemon game off the top of my head, so yeah I'm just talking out of my booty at this point.

if they can have Maple Story, with all the stats, mini game win/lose records, quest records, NPCs, thousands of users, pet stats, cash shop, accessories... i think they can do Pokemon.

I think he's talking about the limited capacity of optical discs.

Maple Story doesn't have any such limitations imposed on it - downloaded straight to Hard Disk.

But yeah, text and calculations don't take up anywhere near the amount of memory as polygonal sprites, so I'd question that.

But Water's admitted he's lost his way here, so I won't ride him too hard.

Maybe make it so you can buy four different versions of the game? You know, one for each region, where the edition changes by whatever region it's based on... NOT INCLUDING RANGER REGIONS THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

can I have the orange islands at least? that was actually kind of cool in my opinion. (even if it would be more like some mini-games or something...)

I meant the Cockfighting Society, not the places.

And the Orange Islands are only in the animé.

Hmm. I do remember hearing that all the information was a serious setback in the first Mystery Dungeon game. But that might be because one of the first two games was released on the Game Boy Advance. I don't know how the memory capacities of the GBA and the DS compare.

Regardless of this lack of factual ground, I just get this vibe of 'NOPE NEVER GONNA HAPPEN.' I'd love to be proven wrong, however.

Never is a very long time.

Unless of course the universe implodes tomorrow.

And then there's the next generation of Nintendo handhelds (no not the DSi - that doesn't count).

I'm guessing the next Nintendo handheld will blow away everything we've seen so far:

I actually had one of these LCD game things. :psyduck:

Don't worry, all things high tech in the game industry will be given away in cereal (wow I can't spell) boxes in 20 years. LCD games for an example.

What about the next system? I bet they'll make a new system that's essentially the same, but with better graphics, motion controls, yadda yadda. Then, after that, they'll make another that's even more of a breakthrough. And what's the next breakthrough after motion control?

Virtual Reality.

But don't listen to me. I'm rambling like an insane hobo.
