I bought the Trilogy and there was a code to redeem a free DLC pack. It had a whole bunch of stuff in it IN ONE BIG FILE. (Like 700 MB)

The explanation for the DLC itself doesn't mention that the comic book thing is in there, either. (It says something like "New squadmate! Arc projector! Sweet armor! Some missions!") Nothing about comic books.

But apparently it was in there anyway.

Thats....odd. I have the PS3 trilogy and at first there was no option to carry over my save to ME2, but then I connected to the net and downloaded a patch and it added the option in. But I had all the dlc installed already so I never had any issue with that.

Huh. That could be it. I got a message like 2 days later saying there was a patch, but every time I tried to get it, the download would freeze/fail, so I gave up for the moment. I have already dumped like 30 hours into the game, so maybe I will keep going, and then get the patch/transfer my save to do a "perfect run" later.

SO NOW THAT WE'RE TALKIN' BOUT ME2:

This game is really good. The new combat really disoriented me for a while, but then I got into it and now it's fine. I appreciate that everything moves faster, too. Ammo is weird but whatever.

It's also way better graphically. I don't know if ME1 is just an old game or because there were porting issues, but cutscenes were prone to glitching hard. They still do occasionally but it's less obvious and less frequent.

New characters are rad; I'll save that for another post though.

I don't think I'll ever like the beginning to ME2, but it is an improvement on the combat system.

Mass Effect definitely had very lackluster port. Although the sequels aren't perfect either.

The main deal with ME1 dialogue scenes is that occasionally the person you were talking to would just disappear entirely. Occasionally they'd walk away and then teleport back, but other times they'd just vanish. Usually it was only NPCs, but Shepard did it too a few times.

But this game. In ME1 I barely stopped to look at the scenery on planets. But in 2 everything is super detailed and exciting. And that room Mr. Illusive sits in, with that nebula/rainbow star and the reflective floor and... wow. I have no doubts that this guy is gonna' be trouble later, but heck if he doesn't have the prettiest environment ever.

So it's been a few days and I've beaten ME2.

All things considered, I did a pretty good job getting through the suicide mission. I did everything right up until holding the line, and ended up having Tali and Mordin die. Looking up a guide afterwards, I basically doomed them inadvertantly because I took Grunt and Garrus with me, and sent Zaeed to escort the crew. But I finally got the import patch to work so I'll be replaying it now and trying for a perfect run.

Also, I'm probably going to switch my romance target from Garrus to Thane. Garrus was all right (kind of adorable) but for whatever reason it felt more superficial. Thane was more... spiritual. I don't know.

Favorite new characters: Thane, Mordin, and Kasumi. Miranda and Legion were also cool.

SO after a long summer break wherein I played Persona 4, I decided to finally get around to playing ME3.

Wow they don't hold anything back in that tutorial do they. "Hey there Shepard BOOM POW CRASH GUNS RUN CLIMB SHOOT THINGS."

Now onward to find out what the deal was with the ending. See you in thirty hours or so.
