All you have to do is turn the brightness down to minimum. It'll last 5 hours, and it shouldn't be hard to see the screen. Also, you can turn the 3D off, which saves on battery power as well. Honestly playing a 3DS on a road trip would cause you nausea if the 3D is on. Also, it is a good rule of thumb to plug in your electronics to charge when you get home or reach youur destination if you're on a trip.

And they, like every DS, COME WITH THE CHARGER in the box. Car chargers are ALWAYS an optional thing that you can buy in the bundle pack online/additionally in the store. Wrist straps come with the systems, too, so you can't complain if you drop it. Carrying cases are always optional, too, but I like to get one since I can't carry my system AND an extra game or two in my pockets, or I'll probably end up washing a game.

The manual clearly says that you shouldn't carry your console in your pocket.

I think even the Game Boy Pocket's manual said that.

I have no other way of carrying it unless I have a case thing for it. *shrugs*
