Indingo, I kind of agree with you a bit, but I've read a bit about Daikatana and I don't think it proves your point.
The thing I come across in every writeup, review or what have you of Daikatana is always the same base complaint - the game was based on an outdated engine, and all problems that weren't directly caused by Romeros Ego flowed from that. By the argument of all you guys, surely it being based on a worse engine would in no way make it a worse game, but according to, well, everyone, thats not the case.
THAT'S NOT EVEN WHAT YOU WERE ARGUING ABOUT!
You were arguing outdated is only a matter of age. As in, even if a game came out today, the game that came out tomorrow would be better simply because it was newer. YOU WERE SAYING THAT PREVIOUS GENERATIONS OF CONSOLES AND GAMES WERE SHIT BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN REPLACED BY NEWER TECHNOLOGY.
New =/=
better. You can pop an old game into your NES and have just as much fun, if not more, than a brand new game you pop into your PS3. And NOT just because of nostalgia - because
it's still a fucking good game regardless of age. It's a good game because it was MADE WELL. And if you want me to look at your argument regarding Daikatana, then you just said almost ALL the complaints stem from the game being POORLY MADE. They used an outdated engine, and THEY DIDN'T USE IT PROPERLY. It's a matter of
using what you have to your advantage. Which all games should try to do. Whether they were made in the past, or if they're still being made to come out in the future. You can dress up your shitty game in pretty bows and ribbons (good graphics) and put it on the most technologically advanced system, but unless the person playing it is easily distracted by shiny objects alone, they're going to realize
IT'S SHIT!
