In relation to the thread title, I'm just gonna point out that it's 'Mega Man', not 'Megaman'.

This is a rule the majority of the series operates under - 'Proto Man' not 'Protoman', 'Air Man' not 'Airman', 'Tengu Man' not 'Tenguman'.

The exception is the Battle Network series which treats the Navi's names as file names, hence 'MegaMan.exe', 'SharkMan.exe', (note also the capitalisation of the 'M' in 'Man').

This has become a pet peeve of mine.

Capcom begs to differ, arguing on that point with you in no less than three different directions.

Care to point them out so that I'm aware of them?

The rule of style appears to be 'Mega Man' on all the official documentation I'm looking at.

Can't find the hyphenated version I was also referring to, but this happens to lack a space.

If you want evidence that isn't a tlevision show, 'Rockman' has always been a single word in Japan, leading to understandable justification for 'Megaman' being equally legitimate.

I mentioned the Battle Network series already, in that same post no less.

Not really.

If I was setting an official document for a western audience my balls would be on the line if I didn't follow Capcom of America's 'house style' throughout the entire document.

I had this kind of thing drilled into me when I had a job setting legal documents so that's probably why it bothers me.

Oh whoops. My Rockman points still stands, though.

And I found a better English example, anyway:

Capcom pretty clearly doesn't give a shit either way.

EDIT(ing counter points into posts after they are made irrelevant and outdated!):

I don't mean it's an official thing the publishers would do, just that it's pretty good justification for the name in English; it seems like a pretty pointless change to be "official."
I agree that it's a pretty relaxed thing, but that's also exactly why it's sort of silly to call Mega Man the 'official' naming convention.

Yeah, I get your point on the in-game title art. That was kinda sloppy and it relates back to the 'Rockman' point.

It's applicable either way. The general consensus among people who don't give a shit, however, is that it's Megaman and Protoman, but the other Robot Masters all have the space (Snake Man, Dust Man, Galaxy Man, ect ect)

Imagine if all of the Robot Masters had no space in their names.

Then we would have Napalmman.
