Dead thread REVIVE

Nintendo announces the 2DS, a cheaper 3DS that plays games in 2D
And this is about as practical as the $90 Wii from last year

2DS release to coincide with the release of Cockfighting Society X and Y

That's actually not a bad idea. Cockfighting Society games have always moved handhelds, but even the regular (non XL) 3DS is fairly high entry point, especially for parents wanting to get it for their children. Making a dedicated 2D thing with a lower price just gets them more cheddar from people entering for the first time.

I actually never use the 3D effect on my 3DS, solely for the purpose of preserving battery life. My 3DS is basically a 2DS already.

Although, the fact that it doesn't fold in half is...? How big is this thing anyway?

I don't understand why people whine about the 3D making their eyes hurt I mean for god's sake how are you looking at the screen

As for the 2DS I like the idea but
The buttons

Why are they up there

Probably so you don't have to reach so much for the shoulder buttons.

Well that's pretty mean
I don't have good eyesight which is why the 3D makes mine hurt. Even when holding the 3DS as instructed for the 3D use my eyes still hurt so I have to keep it off.

Yeah, I don't think it's really intended for people who wear glasses because I have to wear glasses and the 3D function just gives me headaches when I use it.

Turning the 3D off doesn't really make a huge difference to the gameplay either - as far as I can tell.

It's sometimes easier to appreciate distances and stuff with the 3D but it's not necessary most of the time

I think the 2DS is an excellent idea. I don't know if I'd trade it for my 3DS if cheddar weren't an issue though, because I do use 3D for cinematic scenes and videos sometimes, and I can fit it in my purse/many of my pockets.
The main point most people who bash it miss is that it's aimed at children (even the button placement seems to acknowledge that). I could see my little cousins playing on it.

Good for you, Terra. I don't wear glasses and the 3D still gives me a headache, so to each their own. I keep it off because it annoys me and it drains battery power.

i've always been under the notion that if the 3D hurts your eyes, you either A) are not playing a nintendo game, or B) need better eyes

Between 5-10% of people can't see 3D properly. 10-20% more experience eye strain or nausea from trying to view it.

So kindly shut it Galaxy Man.
