Historically, enemies have apparently never gotten wise to the typical Assassin get-up. Sibrand is the only one I remember making any measures to curb the Assassins' use of disguises, and all it did was drive him so insanely paranoid he murdered an innocent monk in broad daylight.

So I'm imagining Washington thinking, "He's certainly wearing a lot of white. In fact, that looks suspiciously like the Assassin uniform...

He must be wearing it ironically."

then suddenly all the founding fathers are a broken off group of templars who have become disillusioned and are rebelling against the main group with the revolution as a cover-up

Or just make them evil Templars rather than pull that shit. It's fiction, not historically accurate.

i'm talking about the fact that if he IS evil then how well do you think that would actually go down in america's media

Fiction. If this is where the established story has led to then don't shy away from it. If the story is censored just to appeal to the lowest common denominator then there was no point to starting it in the first place.

Finish it as it was meant to be.

game design =/= canon

In the novels and such Ezio constantly changed his outfit, and so do assassains.

What Madican said, it's a work of fiction that has already stated that FDR and Hitler and Edison were all in the same boat and that WW2 was just a hoax to get control of the world with Templars. Also that Lenin was an assassain while Stalin was a templar.

Pretty sure they're not worried about "offending" anyone.

i would think the game design is more canon than the novels considering they were created by the actual people running the show? just because the novels fill in plot holes doesn't mean they're more canon than the games, unless the creators specifically come out and say "yes, this is canon." you can imagine it's true for yourself but you can't come out and say "this is definitely how it is because x"

Yes you can because if the novels weren't canon they'd have never been made. They were licensed, approved, and endorsed.

except that's not necessarily always the way it goes?? if you look at the pokemon games, they have a million spin-off mangas and the anime, but nothing in them can singularly be said to be canon. if something in the manga goes against something in the games, it's generally accepted that whatever is in the game is actual canon. each has their own separate continuity because, for one thing, something that works in a video game won't work in a novel because in a novel it won't make any sense.
i'm not sure where i'm going with this anymore but basically just because it says something in the books doesn't mean it applies to all mediums, especially since the books weren't specifically written by the same people working on the games, they were just approved by them

Yeah the development staff has said they're canon.

The glyph puzzles just mention that the Masons brought an apple across the ocean, and that George Washington passed it on. And I can't find any information in the game that specifically ties the Masons and Templars. In fact...

The freemason symbol looks a LOT like the Assassin symbol.
