Games like Diablo 2 don't come out that often, though, and fans of Diablo that were disappointed in Diablo 3 and don't like/don't want to pay for Torchlight 2 will probably check out Path of Exile. The market is pretty oversaturated on MOBAs now too, and Smite is a better Third person MOBA than SMNC. (Acronyms: the post)

That is true; they'll have a bigger audience than usual thanks to it's style of gameplay. An even better reason for them to stick to cosmetic-only items. Like I said, whenever I get the chance, I'll download the game and enjoy it, but as soon as I see any cash shop items that aren't just cosmetic things that make you stand out, I'm quitting.

EDIT: Looks like they have extra stash tabs that they sell. Are these tabs for extra item sorting, or are they for increasing the amount of items that you can carry in your stash? Because if it's for extra overall storage space, then "ethical microtransactions that allow you to distinguish yourself in the world of Wraeclast without receiving any gameplay advantage" just flies out the window.

The extra stash tabs are only for storage, you don't get a bigger inventory.
But yeah, play Path Of Exile! It's everything Diablo 3 should have been, the skill system is really interesting and very very customisable. The passive tree is humongous and you can succeed with any playstyle with just a bit of planning :3

I've started playing this game and I'm liking it a lot so far. Small question, I'm a dual-wielding Duelist, is it normal that I do as much DPS as I have life points?

So I rolled Duelist, put points into the right tree first for faster attack speed/dexterity and the game sees fit to be throwing 2H weapons and plate + physical gems at me.

Not like I can refuse considering it gave me a magical mace I one-shot any non-elite on the beach with. Even the ones on the island.

Okay, so I spent a bit of time looking up basic terms on the wiki, calculating a few builds on the giant passives map, checked out some nice-looking skill gems...and then I looked at the Class forums.

I have no fucking clue what I'm doing anymore.

I'm purposefully avoiding reading up on too much and instead I'm trying to go to the game as organically as possible. This will probably lead to me needing to reroll to ever do the highest difficulties. I heard they're going to give a full respec next patch though, so maybe that won't be necessary.

I'm mostly familiarizing myself with the base stats of each class, the currency (since barter system), and possible paths to go through on the gigantic tree of infinity.

Not even touching builds until I'm at least Level 10.

Yeah the currency system is the only thing I've really read up on. It's very interesting but not really intuitive.

Reading some of the General forums, I gotta say this game has a ton of assholes in it.

"LOOT OPTIONS ARE FOR CASUALS, FREE-FOR-ALL IS ALL YOU NEED."

"IT'S NOT YOUR ITEM UNTIL IT'S IN YOUR BAGS, TOO BAD."

"Hey guys I have a slight concern about--"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FILTHY CASUAL GO BACK TO CALL OF DUTY."

It's like I'm really in the Battle.net forums.

Huh, the Global chat in-game has been the most civil and helpful one I've ever seen so far. Are there really no loot options? Lucky I've only played with friends so far then.

Global chat is really nice. I'm talking about the General forums for PoE.

And it looks like the only loot option prior to today's patch was FFA. This one adds options to divide the loot up evenly and other things.

Think I might reroll a character on the Anarchy league since it reminds me of Dark Souls' NPC invaders.

I'm loving my Duelist at the moment. Darting around the battlefield with Flicker Strike and Whirling blades, killing any tough foe in a matter of seconds through the DPS of Dual Strike and Hatred and mowing down clustered groups of enemies with Cleave linked with Life Gain on Hit. Bit of a glass cannon though, large groups of ranged enemies can be problematic as they tend to be spread out too much for Cleave. I have Lightning Strike for longer range AoE, but I still have to be careful not to jump in over my head in tougher areas.

Ranger is fun as well, filling the screen with arrows and poison fields. I seem to notice some latency issues since the patch though, hope that gets fixed.

Ranger is my highest now. Poison Arrow + Rain for groups ends them fast and Puncture lets me kite the named mobs/bosses.

Brutus was an interesting fight with ranged though, since I had to constantly keep running around to avoid his chain.

I'm playing togheter with a friend now and running two Auras together I get almost double the DPS of my life on Dual Strike. Going to start speccing a bit more defensively now though. Also Cyclone is such a fun skill, especially when linked with Life Gain on Hit.

I'm in Act III now and the game continues to impress me with it's varied enemy and level design.

Took some random screenshots (not of the things I was talking about):
These are some nasty sewers
Path blocked by what appears to be a rotten asshole
Anyone order calamaris?
