How do I get into this? Where do I start?
Has it some sort of continueous story?

Also some sort of introduction into the game mechanics would be nice.
I mean, human mode? Phantom Mode?
I'm confused.

There's not much story in the games themselves, and the games don't really get much continuity until Mountain of Faith. I'm assuming that you're starting with Imperishable Night, since that's the easiest one, although you'd need to play Embodiement of Scarlet Devil and Perfect Cherry Blossom first to get introduced to all the characters. As for the game mechanics, the Touhou wiki will explain them better than I could. For the most part, mechanics besides "dodge everything and bomb when you're freaking out" are mostly for score, though, so you don't need to worry about them too much.

General Strategy is a good place to start

EoSD's hard as balls, I don't remember PCB much, and IN's the only one in which I've gotten a good end aha

I've been wanting to get into Touhou for a long time now, but I've never really started.

So I'm playing Perfect Cherry Blossom. Not a lot of characterization here, huh? It's more "Here are some people. Fight them. You beat them? Good. NEXT" instead of a story-filled game that I was expecting. Kind of shocking considering I've seen an astronomical cast of characters hiding all around the internet.

Ah well, it's still a neat game. I keep twitching and running into bullets, though.

You're not going to find much story and characterization in the games themselves. You'll probably want to read the supplemental material for that. Actually, the fans usually put more characterization in than ZUN does.

I know Ill sound like that old 5 year old meme thats been around, but I truly do wish it doesnt become a mainstream game despite its popularity. ^w^

Actually to be honest, I have most of the games, but I dont play them that often. I got owned by CHEN on Boss 2 in PCB. Thats right, I suck horribly XD

What I really like about the games though is the music. Dear god the feeling I can hear in some of the video games, half the time it sounds less like a game and more like a symphony. Im guessing half the fanbase bases their characterizations on the music even. Amongst my favorites is Hiroari Shoots A Strange Bird and Maiden's Cappriccio, and the fangame Concealed the Conclusion's Dream Battle. (though the last one was not composed by ZUN himself)
