The lack of the copy ability worries me, but the art and the quirky environment manipulation has me excited.

I agree with this.

I wonder why no copy abilities is such a big deal when there have been tons of games without it.

Um, because it's part of what makes Kirby Kirby?
What Kirby games lacked a copy ability?

I believe Canvas curse did, and Air ride.

No, they did not. I played Canvas Curse, and the Wikipedia article for Air Ride states that Kirby can swallow enemies and use their absorbed abilities.

Kirby's Dream Land didn't have that feature, because it was only introduced with Kirby's Adventure.

Well, for one, there's the original Kirby's Dreamland, and Kirbys Pinball Land. KSS and KSSU both have many modes that don't feature copy powers at all. I think I'm forgetting some, but even on top of that, not every game features the simple "sidescrolling walk up to the enemies and suck them up and get the exact same power they were just using".

I guess the point I'm trying to make here is it's been done, at no fault to the games' enjoyments, and it shouldn't be such a huge deal that this game is doing something a bit different.

See my next post.
It's understandable that the first game or games in the series and a pinball spin-off wouldn't have such a feature, but since it was added under a year after the release of the first game and in nearly every other Kirby title (which is quite a lot of them), I would say that pretty much everybody identifies Kirby with a PANK little blob that swallows things and copies their abilities. He also has that ability in the Smash Bros. games.

It's just weird having that removed when you're used to it, but it's not like it's going to ruin the game or anything.

They're trying a new approach, and I think it's really unique.
Also, who said the copy abilities weren't in it? Although the video didn't show it off, that doesn't mean it's not in it.
