I know my dad is. And one of my grand uncles. And three of my uncles. And two of my aunts.

Games have for a long time been part of my family's life. My mom was the biggest Atari geek, She'd play for so long, her hands would get cramps! But what hurt her the most was having to be separated from her atari while her hands healed.
She also beat Pacman once. lol

My dad, I think he likes games, but I'm not sure what he first played in particular. He does play games with us though if we really want him to play with us.

So yeah, I got interested games mostly because of my parents and my Brothers. They were always on the Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64 while I sat there and watched (because they wouldn't allow me to play their games). I guess that's what developed me into being more entertained watching people play than actually playing the game.
But all in all, I'm not a huge gamer like them, but I'll play vidja games from time to time.

Admittedly, a large portion of those probably don't play hipper games, but it does help remind us that people of all ages now play videogames of various varieties.

That's a shame. I'm offering my sister goes all the time. I've molded her into a mini-me. She has mostly the same tastes as me, and is actually better than me at some things(fire emblem). I just thought that if I left her to her own devives, she'd end up playing games I couldn't stand, and seeing as the consoles were mainly in my room, I couldn't take that risk.

And anyways I always feel kinda awkward when I'm playing with other people around, and they're just watching. In group situations I tend to be the watcher...

Same story with my dad too, except he only plays driving games and FPS's. 'Mario Galaxy? That crap looks like a baby's game!' Good times.

I'll be pop flyin' to stare at the screen watchfully and point out anything you might have missed with unwanted commentary.

: D

I would get along with my brother's fine, but when it came to the games, they just seemed very protective of them. :psyduck:

I started out gaming when I was like 2 years old, but was always more concerned about playing with legos until I was about 8 or 9 and played Quake over at my uncle's house with him and some of my cousins... Yeah, my first real roots into gaming formed me into a Quake fag...

I think I had ended up starting video games on the N-64 around 7. The earliest of my memories is playing Starfox 64.

My mom had the original game boy. I loved that big clunky bastard. And my favorite aunt had one too, and this giant collection of games. Mario and Wario games were my bread and butter.

And then another aunt sent my sister pokemon blue and red for her birthday. It was all downhill from there.

I used to play some computer games that my dad had when I was a wee lad (the only one that comes to mind now is some mario kart- ripoff.)

I really didn't play games until I was around 6, when I found a genesis cartridge in a backpack my brother bought at a garage sale. Dad bought a genesis on eBay (this was around 2000) and we played it. realized it wasn't very good, and more or less rarely got played again. Though the genesis came with a few games. Only one I remember was some basketball game. Oh yeah, and Sonic 2, which still holds a candle close to my heart. It's really the only reason I can come up with to explain why I've always loved the genesis. Because of it (and various collections of sonic/genesis games on the PS2), the Genesis was my favorite system for the longest time (NES is only recently starting to take that place.)

Around the same time (about a year or so before or after this, I'm not really sure) I got a gameboy color (also off of eBay.) It came with some awesome games (Super Mario Bros. DX, Links Awakening DX, Pokemon Red for example.) I still own that copy of Link's Awakening, but I traded the other two (though about a year ago my brother got a copy of mario bros. again for like 4 bucks.) I still play a lot of pokemon to this day.

Then around 2002 (I'd already lost the genesis a year or so ago for some reason I cant recall.) I got a PS2. Well, my family got one. (Back then I wanted a gamecube solely because I saw a smash bros. demo playing and liked it. Main reason I finally got one back last April.) Either way, it was my first not-outdated console. I love that thing. First game I got for it was about fighting monsters that were ripoffs of old 50's movie monsters and I still have that as well. Though, I guess by this point I've gone too far into my life to be just how I started playing games.

tl;dr I got a genesis because of a cart I found at a garage sale and pokemon is awesome.

(wow I think this is the longest post I've ever typed.)

Wow, that's nostalgic.
I started gaming when I was four, when A Link to the Past came out.

I first played Mario 20 years ago, when I was 2.
I remember sneaking out in the middle of the night into the living room and playing it untill I fall asleep next to the controller.
Those were some good times. :awesome:

And my first computer was an ANCIENT Tandy 1000.
Image

the monitor wasn't even in colour or anything.

I fucking loved that thing.

We got rid of it in 1997 when we got our first PC with Win95
The computer was around $4000 and at the time it was pretty top of the line
what with it's Pentium 1 processor and 256MB ram, and the GIGANTIC 1.5gb hard drive.
And the 56k modem.

Look at the size of the Operating System! It's only 2MB! And it was in Binary Colors! Only 2 shades of colors, Black and White. Not even greyscale! :awesome:

I didn't own one of those, but I did use them in school, along with the 5 1/4 Inch Floppies.
