GOD DO I HATE MINI-SENTRIES.
They disgust me. I could run at one with full health, and just crouch down and keep firing direct scattergun shot after direct scattergun shot at it, and if I'm lucky I can just barely come out alive. And then? The engineer can just pistol/chip me with his shotgun once and I'm fucking done. Or, better yet, he can just put another one down, losing absolutely nothing, and then I'm dead, and dumb. [/completelyuniqueopinion]

also bragging; i was on a map with this sort of hard corner thing that i was rounding; no one else was around but an engy and his level 3 sentry just around the corner, so i crouched right behind the corner and waited. since the corner was kind of early on in the map and he wasn't getting any action, he picked it up, and i heard the distinctive "Movin' up" thing, ran around the corner, and blasted the engy in two shots and his sentry was ded. it was super satisfying and i got his level 3 dispenser right afterwards as well.
it was a wonderful moment, basically

Blech, I play on orange maps, where the demomen are demoknights and the soldiers are rocket jumper-market gardener "practicers", and there is no such thing as disadvantageous positioning and more often than not an engy can put his minisentry down square in a little nook of a room or just flat-out in the middle of open ground and the best way to deal with it will be quickly and efficiently; the things have daisies long reach and prohibit mobility, so as much as I like to suppose that getting rid of them is basically pointless it essentially needs to happen, just so I can move on with shootan' people.

+ The pistol is more often than not completely useless in most minisentry positions I see; I'm sure for every minisentry position there's going to be some sweet spot I can crouch down and fire my pistol at without getting hit, some exact optimal overlap between the range of the pistol and the range of the minisentry that will mean me destroying the minisentry safely with little 8 damage shots but man who has time for that am I right

orange maps are fun sometimes when there aren't minisentries

i still really do hate minisentries in most maps and gamemodes, besides maybe single payload where everyone is super concentrated on one general area and thus at least one or two people around the cart are going to notice if a minisentry is being a pest. otherwise minisentries are way too inexpensive, have way too much health, and are way too easy to deploy close-range to do as much damage as they do and be as hindering to other people as they are.

and man they are way too easy to kill. scout can easily 1-2 shot it depending on his shotty (or long range pistol), pyro can burn it in seconds (or flare gun it from long range), solly can bodaciously one shot it with a rocket (from long range), demo can also 1 shot it with ANY of his ranged weapons (and i believe 2 melee hits?), heavy can just fucking ignore it if hes on a cart (or shoot it if hes bored), engineer generally doesnt have to deal with it or he can use wrangler/pistol/his own sentry, medic can 2 shot it with a medic cross bow or about...id say 10-13 needles or just let his healing buddy go up and smack it (or don't, just let it build uber for the medic), sniper/spy are self explanatory.

im sorry what was your complaint again?

i only ever see them being a nuisance if there's more than one engineer using them, honestly.

if you're using the homewrecker, it can one-shot them. it's hilarious to encounter an engineer that tries setting one up as a distraction only for me to pull out my melee and kill it before the daisies thing finishes building.

The mini-sentry isn't OP but an engineer spamming them destroys fun. It's an annoying distraction that can still kill you if you're not paying attention. I feel like it adds nothing to the game besides detracting even more from the idea of classes with clearly defined roles.

All I know is that I can stay alive long enough to lay like 5 mini sentries down, which rack up about 10 kills or so, and then I run around with the Frontier Justice like that one Gunshow comic:

Granted mini-sentries are primarily an annoying nuisance for most combat classes, but they're pretty dangerous for Scouts and Pyros if they're well placed. Can't get to flamer range inside a second? Hope you're at full health beforehand and have a health pack/medic nearby for after.

Now I'm thinking that, when I'm playing Engie, every so often I should pick up my Dispenser and move it around a bit just to see what happens.
