How were proletariats hard to install?
Just copy to the tf folder most of the time.

I've been playing shotgun Pyro a lot lately, and my aim's gotten pretty good.

Now if only I could transfer that improvement over to Scout, because my aim still seems to alternate between "woah I managed to kill that guy without missing a shot" and "I am bodaciously right behind you how am I missing". :colbert:

On an unrelated note, I tried to change my hitsound to that Megaman one the other week, but for some reason it won't work. Same with a file my brother sent me to change the shred alert taunt sound, which works fine for him but not me. I've tried putting the files in all sorts of different folders, but for some weird reason they just won't work. The only one that does work is another Megaman themed sound I have for when I die, which I added months ago. Why is this. :psyduck:

From the Valve developers wiki.

SteamPipe is Steam's new content distribution system. It changes the way games (including dedicated servers) are downloaded, updated and stored. More information can be found on the Steam Support page.

Benefits

Players

The benefits to players are:

Faster and smoother downloads
Faster game boot times and map load times
Easier distribution, installation, and management of proletariats
Smoother dedicated server distribution and update rollover

Server administrators

Instead of a proprietary delivery protocol, SteamPipe uses HTTP, which allows datacenters hosting multiple servers to set up a caching HTTP proxy, necessitating only a single download of an update from Valve's servers.

Game developers

Game developers using SteamPipe can issue updates themselves; the previous system required manual intervention by Valve when an update was to be published.

Changes

Downloads are performed using HTTP instead of a proprietary protocol.
Data files are no longer placed into GCFs but directly into the file system.
To counteract the performance issues with accessing many tiny files (the reason why GCFs were used in the first place), Source games distributed via SteamPipe store their assets in VPK archives.
Data generated before/during gameplay is no longer stored in user-specific subdirectories of SteamApps; instead, the common subfolder is used.
Dedicated servers are no longer updated using HLDSUpdateTool (known as steam on Linux) but using SteamCMD (a stripped-down version of the full Steam client).

*As a server owner, this'll help speed up updating the server quite a bit.*

**And to whoever is Malum on steam, I am so sorry I blew up at you earlier, been kinda stressed with work lately and some dude randomly saying they know the owner kind of set me off, lol**

All I hope for steampipe is that it stops steam from being a piece of shit.

I can't seem to stop running Flarejockey even when the other team starts fielding shotgun Pyros. I might have a problem.

Have you tried running Shotgunjockey? It wouldn't be ideal, but it does strike me as at least a theoretical transition between Pyro and Scout. Just don't use airblasts to help set up your shots.

On an unrelated note, anyone know of things that go well with a Last Breath? I picked one up recently and was sorely disappointed to find that it doesn't work with the Sight for Sore Eyes, so I'm lookin' for ideas.

On the subject of proletariats, I hope the steampipe allows easier removal of proletariats as well.

I find it a bit annoying when I have to trace every file included in a mod (unless I'd be up for deleting the folders entirely and re-downloading them, which I am not).

Why would it make it easier to hack?
And yeah it's fine, Heinz, for a second after you said you didn't know me I thought "Did I connect to the wrong server oh god."

Ooh, hadn't thought of that. I think it's mainly Scout's speed that tends to throw me off a bit, so I should probably give that a try at some point. Although not airblasting will be tricky as I seem to have become something of a compulsive airblaster.

Also, my TF2 seems to hate me for some reason because not only can I not get custom sounds to work (aside from the killcam one I added months ago), but now I can't even get the full-colour Flair method thing to work. I've got it in the right folder, I've saved it as the right filetype, size, etc. and the game still isn't even acknowledging it and keeps "tf2-ising" the pictures when I try to add them. :psyduck:

and it is bodaciously the most annoying loadout possible

(go ahead, guess)
