If you have a good enough community u don't need to bribe people with perks. Brh has completely ridden on donations since 2007 and it costs about 160 a month for all our servers including other game servers like CSS and dayz
That makes sense to me. If the only reason one goes to a certain server is due to the perks they get, then it isn't the server & people they go there for. In the end, if perks are given, they should be as non-influential as possible (basically just cosmetic). I recall several games where a person simple trolled and abuse their powers that they got due to donating a few bucks.
On the other end though, when servers are just starting out they typically do not have a self-sustaining community. Thus, in the beginning it is reasonable to think one would aim to find ways to attract people into them, and help counter the maintenance costs. Once they gain a good enough community, and supporters, they then can go from there in their approach. However, at no point though should there be unreasonable perks that do in fact affect the game-play, such as give the donating individuals advantage over the rest.
Cosmetic perks, such as color coding a name or text, comes off as a way to recognize and thank the individual(s) for donating to a server(s) they enjoy playing on. I see that as possible since it is free to script such and implement the script into the server without a performance loss notice.

Why do 24/7 2fort servers always have the worst players on them? Not worst as they are bad at the game but ones that are just trolls, elitists, and jerks with 20 unusuals and Saxton's Own sniper rifles that complain every time someone manages to kill them.
I mean it is fun to counter-troll them. Like this sniper/donator I trolled using my Croc-o-style set, he refused to body shot me at all.
But still, what is with 2fort and these kinds of people
I believe trollfort is the answer (or 42).
