Actually, after a couple more hours of playing I'm starting to like this game.

I finally played Demon's Souls before. You can backstab dudes with your fist. You punch through their entire body. Best game ever.

So that's the real reason that made Gamespot choose it as the Game of the Year.

I'll probably play Megaman x4 because it's the only one from the X-series that I have which works on my Playstation.

I bought Resident Evil 4.

I am, deeply ashamed to say that I have died about two dozen times in the first level. Grr, I've tried like, every strategy I can think of to survive. Fighting zombies; I get overwhelmed. Running away; can't find any place to escape to. Stealthily avoiding zombies; still can't find anyplace to escape to. Baracading myself in a building; they smash through and overwhelm in in close quarters. Climbing up on the roof of a building and shooting zombies; THEY STILL COME UP AND SWARM ME.

EVERYTHING FAILS. This confuses and perplexes me. I have not seen a game over screen for years. Why do I suck so hard at this game?

Also, why does the very first level of the game seem to have like, a thousand fucking zombies trying to kill me? Hasn't the game developers ever heard of a difficulty curve? D:

EDIT: Also. WTF. Zombies are supposed to be slow and shambling and stupid. They don't run, they don't use weapons, and they don't plan attacks against me! Zombies are not supposed to use chainsaws, I'm supposed to use chainsaws against them! GAH!

This IS a good game; keep at it.

It's okay Karilyn. After a week of dying constantly in the original Resident Evil I gave it up because MANSION + ZOMBIES+ BAD FIGHTING MECHANICS = FRUSTRATION.

I've played the game a hundred times and I still don't understand the triggers for the event with the first chainsaw dude. You can definitely end it by killing everyone, but that's not really a viable option for your first playthrough with only the first two, un-upgraded guns. If you can kill the Dr. Salvador and kite the rest of the zombies, I think that's the best option.

Like Topaz said, if you haven't already, learn to melee attack by shooting zombies in their face or knee, run up and hit the action button when it gives you the command; it's the biggest lifesaver in the game. A roundhouse kick will knock down everyone in front of you, and any melee command gives you a few seconds of invulnerability.

Wait, you don't know what triggers the event or why it is triggered so early in the game?

I know how and why it starts; I'm not sure of all the ways its end is triggered. Killing everyone ends it, and running around for a period of time ends it, but I don't know whether or not you have to kill the Dr. Salvador. I don't think I've finished the event without killing him, so idk if it's a requirement bro

I actually prefer being at a disadvantage in numbers. More kills for us, and more gold per second.
