When are difficulty settings in a video game ever a good thing? Why would I want to replay an entire game over and over again on progressively harder settings?

This goes along with my argument against some of the objectives in Brawl. I don't care if it's optional. If no one would enjoy doing it, then it's just a waste of space on the game.

Also, why do we have two of the same thread?

Some people actually like doing this thing called "playing a game a second time".

Yes, but once again, you forget that some do enjoy doing it!

Are you sure people actually enjoy that? Because it seems pretty far-fetched to me.

I do enjoy it. o.o After having a good grasp of a game I think it's fun to make it more of a challenge.

Plus, a friend of mine hasn't played any video games up until now and the "easy" mode gave me the chance to get her addicted :)

I like replaying games. Mostly because the more I play something the more I actually catch that I missed the first time. Also I can get extra costumes and scenes....

And to take this thread in a completely different direction:

Celibate Heroes.

It annoys me when we have a protagonist like Link, who seems to attract women with some sort of magnet, never has a defined relationship.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I much preferred it! I get so sick of most entertainment bottlenecking every main character into a relationship at some point. Nintendo were always very good at making sure their games stayed in their genre, and not diverge into a mushy luvvy part at some point.

That's aside from the fact that most of the time, its horribly out of place, considering the majority of games are about saving the world! Not a good time for a relationship sub-plot!

Relationships in video games often make me feel awkward. Case and point: Lloyd and Collette.

When a game is too hard or too easy for a certain person.

Love Interest: I love you!
Player: I love you too. Gotta save the world now, kthxbai.

That's all it needs to be.

I know exactly what you mean, except with the Lloyd/Collette example I was too busy laughing at the cheesy voices.

Get out of that RPG, Robin. You're a Robin.

I like relationships that aren't the main characters! (IE: Anju and Kafei) FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf I couldn't wait to get the couple's mask.

I don't think Lloyd and Collette was so bad, it fit. I don't care much for game relationships, personally, unless it fits.

Playing something or doing something where the odds are stacked against you, and then winning, is sometimes fun. That's why playing Hard on Guitar Hero or Veteran on Call of Duty entertain me.

EDIT: Especially on RTS's, because the computers always get extra supplies and quick spawning units, and a dynamic intelligence.
