Dead Space.

It's not so much the aliens as the ambiance. All the flickering lights, the noises, the constant whispering you can't quite make out, the random movements that turn out to be shadows, the writing on the walls.. Yeah that game is creepy. :o

l4d was just jumpy and tense to start out with, but once everything started getting normal (vs modes and rerun campaigns) it seems like business as usual and nothings surprising

edit: there was nothing scary about dead space, again there were only OHSHI- moments where you were pretty much boned. it wasnt even really creepy, it was more like an action game if anything

I somewhat don't find most "horror-games" scary. Might have something do to that I laugh when I charge in with the chainsaw in Doom 3.

I must say that the alien attack in Majora's Mask got a chilly feeling to it somehow. The music mixed with "The unknown" aliens and stuff. Kinda creepy, even though it's far from scary.
