How can you say they weren't bad?

They were so bad that Nintendo denied ownership of them

Or maybe they did that because they didn't own them.

There was some sort of dispute-y thing and Phillips got to make some Zelda games. Nintendo was not involved.
FFUCKCKCKCCKCKCK!!!! Stupid train with the laser possesed zelda and the snickering demon and his electric rats. However I did think that the train vs train was significantly more awesome and better done then the boat vs boat of P.H.
@ Snarf
At least that's not as bad as the final-final boss. Like a mix of Ganon from OoT and Ganondorf from WW.

Giant beast thingy!
Zelda: "Link distract Malladus while I shoot light arrows at him!"
In all seriousness, Spirit Tracks took so many ideas from other Zelda games that it almost feels like something 'fan-made', in the words of one of my friends.
That final battle was hard and I was a bit upset that Malladus didn't look very threatening in spirit form and that he looked just like Beast Ganon when possesing Chancellor Cole.

On the plus side the battle was fun and challenging.

And I think that entire ending scene was a reboot for the series in a new Hyrule. I think that's why it was set up so similarly to Ocarina of Time.
I mean the circular floating stage with the debri, Link and Zelda standing in front of a beautiful sky, the 7 sages descending into the heavens.

That's something I liked by the way. How the Lokomo, the spirits of the earth, were actually protectors of the land in a very similar way that the sages protect the land.

Also I like that they actually killed Byrne. With most games it's just like "Oh let's set up this sad scene and kill this person and then revive them two seconds later, yay!"
It was almost unbeliable to me that a character actually died protecting Zelda and then actually stayed dead. It really makes it that much more special.

Also, I'm pretty sure New Hyrule from Spirit Tracks is the same Hyrule from LOZ 1 and LOZ 2. It just has to be!
The Snow Realm is so random though. Everywhere else it's all nice and warm and then BOOM! Snow. It's not even at a higher altitude than the rest of the land. So that's kinda annoying.
I give it 5 out 5 Triforces.

Linebeck and what he does.
Also Trainbeck III isn't that imporant in the game. He's the Owner of Linebeck Trading Company. When you visit him he makes you get someone to fix his bridge and then makes you pay for it. Of course it's too expensive for you pay so he makes you visit his Grandfather's grave to get a ring that he's too lazy to search for himself. Then he snatches it from you and ends up losing the ring to the bridge maker.
I thought he was a bit of a douche but so much like Linebeck that I couldn't help loving him.
If it weren't for the some-what dodgey CGI that would be the best video game advert I have ever seen.

That bit where Zelda got her soul ripped out was a little bit disturbing.
