My main issue is trying to take care of Smough while Ornstein attacks me from every direction.

Got the Lordvessel. Switched to using the Greatsword of Artorias+4, even though I didn't have the stats to properly wield it, and destroyed Slim-fast. Monster Mass went down after a short while. Now I need to figure out where to go next. I think New Londo was supposed to be the next stop but I can't remember.

Oh my god I finally understand just how powerful Iron Tarkus is, I took down the Iron Golem in less than 20 seconds with him. It never hit either of us, and I didn't knock it off the side or anything.

i dont think you actually share souls with npcs, ive never noticed a change when i use solaire or not

poison arrows are your friend

I was gonna snipe em back but then I got stunned by an arrow to the face and they proceeded to kill me before I could get into cover. But yeah, I just gotta go grab some poison arrows and kill em dead.

No joke. I was almost done killing the first one while desperately clinging onto the little railing I had and I got one of their greatarrows in my back, which for whatever reason knocked me off the railing. No idea how to deal with that, since if I turn around either direction I'm pretty much dead.

I don't have any bolts or arrows and I've been investing into magic up to this point. I could try engaging them on the little ramp up with Great Soul Arrows, but it doesn't look like the game allows it/I'll just get fucking hit with more greatarrows.

If only I remembered to buy some poison arrows.

A bow/crossbow comes in handy throughout a LOT of the game. You can use it to lure enemies into traps or bring one enemy over at a time instead of 2 or more.

The archers are easy. All you need is to twohand a shield that has good stability and rush to the archer on the right, it'll take it's sword out and keep slashing at your shield until it falls off the side.
