Vrom, you could make the void portal be located in the middle of the sun, and it's pull be the thing the keeps the planets rotating around such a small star.
Maybe navigation in it could be extremely difficult? Kind of like the Furthest Ring in Homestuck, and if the game uses random encounters, it would be pretty cool if every single monster in the game could be fought there randomly.

Navigation in the consuming void that isn't at the castle/fortress core thing would basically fuck you up, destroy your body, and rip out your soul then fling it with the others trapped in the vortex.

Monsters there would be either undead things fueled by the shadowy necrotic magic of that place, or things like living embodiments of the void that know nothing but a emptiness inside and always hunger, or stuff like that.

but having a void portal thing in the fiery core is a stroke of genius! :science:

And then the dark lord's castle is the final raid of the game.

Yeah, like a 30 boss raid! It would be as big and confusing as Icecrown Citadel, Black Temple, and Karazhan combined.

And the final battle would have several phases, and he transforms his shape a bit (like Aku, and The Wind Fish's Nightmares) and his throne room changes scenery based on his form (like Zant), and the room locations & boss forms would be where powerful users of void magic lost control and got themselves, and/or what they were using that magic against, and got sucked in.

Oh, also, I had plans for some "big opening ceremony" for a raid like how they had Ahn'Qiraj in WoW for when you do the quest chain for the scepter of the shifting sands and open the scarab wall by banging that gong.
The plot for this raid would be that "The Lord of All Beasts" awakens from his den once every 500 years to try and destroy the worlds through some means, and when the game starts up and stuff 499 years would have already past by since his last awakening. This thing is what made the original Beastmen, and if you don't stop him he will most likely make something even worse.

The idea of the opening ceremony would be that the cultists who worship this beast would have carved a large temple into the mountain where it rests, and once the 500 years would have past, they'd open the large doors to its den and their temple so their master could destroy the worlds.

An idea I had earlier today, minigames based on what classes you are. Like Thieves get MGS/Boktai sneaking, Bards get rhythm games (EBA and/or DDR), pet classes get pokemon style and/or battlebots style arenas for pvp games, etc.

As per usual, I ask if these ideas are any good.

DUDES I JUST HAD ANOTHER GAME IDEA! You know how games (especially JRPGs) in this day and age are filled with prettyboys, muscle-headed brutes, kids, lolicons, and buxom & anorexic bizarre anatomy failing women?

How about a basic RPG that is based around game industries run by the characters of their games and hopeful people who want to be part of games by these companies?
The playable characters would NOT be pretty and/or badasses and want to join an RPG making company *cough cough square enix cough* and have their own game series, but the company denies them the chance because of their appearances, so they band together and decide to raise some hell and tear all the overly popular game industries a new one.

Like instead of a male prettyboy for the lead we get someone who's scraggly and scruffy with scars and stuff, and instead of the pretty lead female character (HOW I ANATONY?) we get a girl who is more NORMAL looking and shaped closer to a potato, and instead of a big bruiser badass we get some tall & lanky air headed stoner guy, and instead of agirl who is a lolicon we'd get some cross dressing male midget with a perpetual 5 o' clock shadow with a cigar in his mouth.
(I just KNOW that fanart would be made to make the cast look prettier if this would ever be made)

The final battles of the game would be you taking down the heads of these game companies by blackmailing them and their popular characters. Blackmailing like:
That cute girl with the huge rack from that one RPG that all the boys whack off to? Actually a dude.

That gun toting badass from a certain FPS who is only pop flyin' when bathing in the blood of his enemies? Lived in his parent's basement until the age of 31 and went to fat camp twice.

That one cute boy with the spiky hair from a certain fighter game that all the girls love and ship with other characters in other serieses? MAJOR amounts of plastic surgery. He wasn't beaten with the ugly stick as a baby, he was beaten with the entire ugly tree every day of his life since he was born.

& lots of other stuff, like MegaMan1's boxart is actually how MM looked before the game was made and he is ashamed of it. (I know that Capcom makes fun of it in this day and age, but this would be a world of where they'd be ashamed of it and try to hide all evidence of it.)

How about it? Would you guys play this game? I'd play it. (also I'm at McD's right now on their wifi to post this so I'll reply to all your comments later.)

Straight out mocking the tropes of JRPGs and the game industry in an wouldn't be good, IMHO, unless the game that does this is very short.
You could mock the tropes in NPC dialogue, or leave subtle hints, though. Like having several magazines on plastic surgery in the prettyboy's room.

"The story begins with Arnold Myers, a successful but lonely bussinessman who lost his wife to Boilers Disease. You are headed for Brooklyn by Air Balloon, you are in the bar, alone with the bartender, when out of nowhere, an alarm goes off, alerting that the airships engines are out and is holding on by a backup Helium Supply. Nearly a few minutes after the alarm, the door breaks down to see a fleshy steampunk-esque monster. The bartender pulls you behind the counter and fires a pistol at the hulking beast. But to no avail, you watch as the bartender is burnt alive by hot steam fired from the creature. This is where things start, you must crawl back away from the monster into an empty wine closet nearby and wait for the creature to leave, after its depart, you grab the Bartenders pistol to see its empty, and begin your journey to find salvation.

Weaponry
I will only describe 2.

The Claymore
First found in the dining hall, its your generic sword, but can be effective against unarmored monsters. When used enough, it can be swung faster, but if used profficiently, it can deal more damage.

SF Firearm
Its this games pistol, but unlike most, it has an interesting feature, instead of firing bullets, it fires concentrated fire, it has 4 rounds in its clip, and it fires 4 rounds per 8 seconds.

Upgrades

SPEED FACTOR
-Quickdraw
Can shoot faster
-Dynamo
Can fire automatically, clip is increased.
POWER FACTOR
-Hothands
Bullets deal more damage
-Magma spitter
Bullets leave burn effect
Alternate
-Tough Guy
Bullets deal knockback

Thats all for now, thanks whoever came up with the rough concept.

Just gonna add that if I ever make my really big game that I am totally adding in these two april fools things that wowhead did. (sans Felicia Day that is...)

Because gear dye and special event merchants selling cool crap is an amazing thing and should be done.

mmm... okay.

I aimed it to be short.

And yeah subtle hints and shit, because 8-bit Theatre, Adventurers, and RPGWorld as well as every D&D comic has done some degree of game parody.

Also after posting what I did and got busy for several days I decided to basically make it as one mega corporation that is basically hollywood but with making games with the "hollywood beauty" as the standard.
And as 95% of the internet agrees, hollywood has become a horrid, plastic faced, childhood raping monster in the past several years, and quite a few people would want some form of game that gives some semblance of taking down the terrible new and rehashing/raping of old with mountains of terrible sequels that both game companies and hollywood alike are hell bent on doing.

--------

NEW IDEA!
This boss battle from Twilight Princess:

Imagine doing that in WoW, but as a 1 boss dungeon group PVP contest.
Like 5 people on those spinners, all moving and spinning and ricocheting around and trying to deal the most hits to the boss, and the person to deal the most hits would be the winner.
And everyone would be given ranks for how well they did, and just so losers don't go empty handed they get the bare minimum of reward for beating the boss while higher rankers who dealt more hits would be given slightly higher rewards.
Also you could bump into other players, knocking them off their spinners, and sometimes knocking yourself off too.

Ooh ooh or even just a raid boss PVP gauntlet that is supposed to be 2 long hallways side by side with bosses in them and you could either attack the boss or do stuff that messes with the other people in the other hall like heal their boss or place land mines or something.

So the more you screw over your opponents, the less you help for taking down your boss. And since if people would get ahead in the slightest they'd obviously win that gauntlet, maybe make it harder on the people ahead so when the other team screws them over they do even MORE screwing than they would while at the same boss, so healing the final boss that team 1 is against while team 2 is still at the first boss would cause massive heals for the final boss.

Good ideas or bad ones, guys?

Glad to hear it.

Before I really get going... a question.
I was thinking since the thief class' third tiers would be all mixed up, why not make it so the Ninja, Rogue, and Pirate's final forms would be one of each alignment? Space Pirates and Demon Pirates are a natural thing, and Dragon themed Ninjas are another natural thing, and hey, Thieves of Time and "Blood Rogues" (blood = necromancy?) are some kind of thing. Yeah or nah?

OKAY! SO...
TIME FOR ME TO FINALLY DISCUSS MY "MONK" CLASS IDEA!

It'd be a basic fist fighting melee class with some ranged "chi" spells (so yeah this trope in a nut shell for spells) for damage and healing.
Would use "auras" as a form of utility like warrior stances and DK presences like take X% less physical/magical damage, do bigger chi/ki hits for damage & healing.
Considering how it is shaping up to be able to be a ranged/melee DPS class that can both heal and tank I think I have accidentally made this class be the most versatile in what it can do.

I will be posting stuff for reference to help grasp what I mean/think/got it from.

The first tier base "Grappler" class so far just has some basic attacks.
Seismic Kick (kicks the foe, dealing moderate damage and knocking them back)
Boulder Break (deals 3 times as much damage if enemy is under an anti-damage effect and removes the effect)
Evasion (base spell for all monk & thief classes; greater dodge chance for a short time, long CD)
Leap (Leap through the air and land at targeted location, does cool stuff if talented by 3rd tier)
I had more but they were dumb.

2nd tier class change:
Monk, the light branch gets named the true name of the entire thing for the time being unless I can think of a better name.
Basically becomes a better healer and is a more "peaceful" branch, and pretty much your DBZ hero style class.

Brawler, basically a morally gray area class that is more Luchador (lol spell checker doesn't recognize that word) and any arena fighting wrestler themed. (name may just end up being replaced with something else)

Currently this one is named Bashkar and will be changed later because I am a lazy oaf and copied the light & dark branches from the japan only Secret of Mana for the SNES and naming it that was easier than saying "the dark branch" over and over. Fighting style? Umm... I dunno, just someone who fights dirty, like every martial artist villain ever.

3rd tier class change: Light
The light/dark branch is currently open for anything really because I am so lazy.

Light/Light would be your basic Martial Artist "Chosen One" in every kung fu movie and/or game, and basically this part of episode 39 of Teen Titans. It is currently named God Hand because not only was a year 2000ish translated 1995 SNES game by Square using that name, but so was a certain Capcom game, and I'm a lazy fucker. Basically you channel light into your fists and feet to deal high damage melee attacks, or release them for powerful damaging & healing spells, or just use that channeled light power to deflect attacks with your fists.

light/neutral is called Spirit Fighter and uses a physical manifestation of their fighting spirit as a combat minion/pet. Dunno if adding a time theme or any overtones would be a good idea.

3rd tier class change: Neutral
(only the Light/Dark one have I even put work into)
Hulk, this class receives little in the way of new cool attacks and stuff or better stats, but gets the ability to augment their muscle mass for a good bit of time to double damage done and soak up more punishment from enemies. Being "hulked out" would only have a 50% uptime, so while you aren't in your pure juggernaut of terror form you're kinda squishy and aren't that strong, so all stuff between the two states would equal out to every other class and player in the long run.
And yeah, basically you're like Marvel's Hulk as this class. thinking of having talents that increase both uptime and downtime, since current thought would be 30 seconds of hulk then 30 seconds of wuss, so like talents to change it to 60/90/120 seconds or something... Or maybe just 2 talents to increase the time between changes and another talent to just do something else?

3rd tier class change: Dark
currently slated as the same thing three times over with chi/ki taking forms based off of class.

dark/light Dragon Fist, now let's take a moment and imaging something since I can't find a good picture of reference that isn't in NSFW territory... picture in your mind a muscular guy who has a (chinese) dragon tattoo on his arm, now picture the tail is at the back of his shoulder, and imagine it spiraling down around his arm, ending with the head at the back of his hand. Now picture him with a matching tattoo on his other arm & shoulder. Now imagine that he has an aura around him that looks like a (western) dragon, complete with wings and tail.
Basically that is what I had in mind for looks.

Death Hand, (another SD3 class change ripoff name) may change name to something unique if people demand it. To try and make it a little more unique I decided that it would have chains on its forearms and shins/calves/whatever you call that area, and those chains would be chi/ki manifested into there that could be loosened and used to attack/heal/defend/whatever. (vid is extremely long, so I cut to where it starts showing use of Kurapika's chain to help speed things up)

Once again, LBS is causing me to be useless in naming. Dervish (another SD3 monk class name) would be like the devil's dance partner, OR, someone who practices dances of death. Attack style would look like an intricate dance style.
Will work much more on this one later.

So... yup... fist fighter class that can heal, tank, and damage at range or as melee for all 13 different points.

Was going to have other stuff added but don't know where they'd go.
Elemental - Fiery fists and ground shattering force. Gets the elemental spell school thing for attacks? (basic 4 elements & pure physical?)
Mimicry - Blue mage style spell stealing but just as a "monkey see, monkey do" or "MegaManning" thing like the Magus mage class.
Feral - chi/ki attacks take form as wild animals (oxen, tigers, falcons, snakes, whatever) and attacks are named/themed after animals.
Balance - Pure Neutral, uses high amounts of both light and dark attacks, and abilities based around balance. (more damage dealt if enemy has more health by percentage, life link so you and your ally share HP equally)

Maybe I'm just over thinking this and should just like merge some stuff together?

"Auras" could be called Chakras.

Other than that I don't have any criticisms, but that might just be because I'm half-awake at the moment.
