Megaman Legends 3 CANCELLED

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.

Not that I could buy, seeing how the e-shop cards are still not out here yet!

I know it's Capcom's call and the fans are apparently overreacting and stuff, but to get the fans so involved with the development of a game only to then shut it down is generally gonna upset a few people, yeah.

Buy a Visa Gift Card.

Same idea, and you can use it on more than just the 3DS. It's pretty much a one-time Debit Card.

I was actually looking forwards to this...

Does anyone think the cancellations of this and Universe had anything to do with Keiji Inafune leaving? I really hope that this doesn't lead to no more games in the Mega Man series coming out. I was looking forward to Mega Man 11...

Maybe there's some deeper unrest going on in the corporate bowels of Capcom.

It might actually be that Inafune left because he sensed the shit was about to hit the fan.

Inafune left because he thought that Capcom would be incapable of doing games that would work both for a Japanese audience and for a western audience, and he apparently had problems with the higher-ups. He was very pessimistic about Capcom's future, both as a company and as a game maker.

There ya go; That's what I thought.

It might be that the higher ups are cancelling all the MM stuff because they associate those projects with Inafune and they're bitter about his departure.

I don't know how the copyrighting/licensing would work, but it might be that Inafune picks up these projects in some form in his new company; If not with Mega Man, then perhaps he'll come up with some suitable MM doppelganger character.

I want to see my Mega Man ZX3. I wasn't really looking forward to legends 3 because I don't have a 3DS, and I wasn't gonna get one anyways.
