You guys know about Sora Ltd., the game developer company founded by Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros., right? Well, Nintendo has now formed this "Project Sora", in which there will be a new game directed by Sakurai himself. More info here:

http://www.andriasang.com/e/articles/20 ... ject_sora/

It's not going to be Super Smash Bros., though I am excited!

It definitely sounds interesting. They say it will be something different. I hope they don't mean it in the sense Wii Fit or the Wii itself was different, but in the sense it will be original. Unfortunately, we are dealing with nintendo, so they probably do mean it in that sense.

Whatever it is, I hope it has a good atmosphere. That really makes or breaks a game for me nowadays.

An original game? When was the last time a truly original game came out?

Postmodernism is for fags. There's a lot of original games out there, they're just harder to find.

Well, Nintendo may be behind it, but it's focusing more of it's support on Masahiro Sakurai, who originally quit Nintendo for two reasons:

1.) The release of Kirby Air Ride (not sure of the details, but I think they released it sooner then he had wanted)

2.) He once expressed his distaste for fans that assume that when he makes a game, it'll automatically be a sequel, and as such, won't require much effort (like they're not even trying to make a new game). As he quotes:

Quote:
"Even if it's a sequel, lots of people have to give their all to make a game, but some people think the sequel process happens naturally."

That's why he quit to become a freelance game designer and founded Sora Ltd.

I thought Killer7 and Shadow of the Collosus were pretty origional AND awesome.
I don't normaly go just for the whole "origional" thing but I don't think I've played any bad games from this guy. Just about all the kirby games were quite sexy and SSB is pretty sweet so I'm pretty psyched for this.
Too bad we'll have to wate a fucking century.

I... fail to see how that's original. Or a game.

I think once Lucas was put in a Smash Bros. game, Iwata realized that Nintendo needs more original franchises. Oh well, better late than never.

Like it was posted on Smash Dojo, the last character in Brawl in order of debut is Captain Olimar, in 2001. There is a lack of new characters, so maybe this will bring a new one?

I wonder what genre it will be. I doubt its a fighting game or a platformer. Based on what they have said so far, I think it will be one of those games where you have to make up its own sub-genre in order to categorize it, sort of like how you can't really call Portal a First-Person Shooter. (Also, since we are on the topic of original games, Portal was very original. I never played anything like it)

I hope it's not a platformer. When it comes to platformers, you can always tell when it's Sakurai's work. Subspace Emissary basically a Kirby game with different characters.

I prefer games where I can't pick out who the director is just by playing it.
