So this idea came about in a random IM chat with a few friends of mine. Here's the result:

Vaati appears to be in command of the Space Pirates. GDorf is actually running them behind the scenes. And Princess Zelda of the Hyrulian Galactic Empire has been kidnapped! Link, flying in his spaceship Epona, gets the message and heads off to the Pirate homeworld...BUT! He crashes into Sammy Aran! He must then go and find the seven maidens, whose powers are being used by GDorf to open the galaxy! Link and his alien fairy friend, Neo Navi, venture through dungeons on various planets to save the maidens and stop Ganon’s evil designs. However, they run into trouble—namely Twinrova, two planets come together as a massive weapon of ultimate destruction; and Ridley, Sammy’s nemesis! But Link and Sammy defeat them! Vaati takes the blame from Ganon, getting himself OWNED IN THE FACE in what would be the single greatest cutscene ever, and Link goes to the final battle! Little does he know that the Master Sword is actually the final key to the galaxy, and Ganon intends to use it for his plans! End battle ensues and so ends the greatest game ever.

Let's see how the reactions roll. Just so you know, seeing Vaati get backhanded by Ganondorf would be reason enough to buy a game like this.

Seeing Vaati getting pwned in the face is an excellent reason to by a game.

Not a fanfic. A legitimate game. I'm going to Nintendo with this sometime.

What you have is a paragraph. Not a game.

While the idea is incredibly cool, steam Punk Zelda would be set in victorian times. By then they already have guns which shouldn't be available to the Zelda franchise.

Space Zelda sounds more like a bad Star Wars fanfic.

Steampunk doesn't necessitate victorian era. It often borrows elements from it, and the industrial revolution, but can, and is, set in varying times and places.

Vaati is just backhanded by Ganon? Come on, you need more then that, like a flying punch to the face in slow motion that sends Vaati flying backwards, also in slow motion, into some explosives that send him flying to...I don't know, a bear that catches him in the air and suplexes him.

Really? I've always seen it being set in Victorian times. Zelda seems to be set during renaissance times though so it's hard to see 1800's type machines stuck on the Zelda world.
