I like Chrono Trigger quite a bit.

Anyone ever play Legend of Dragoon?

No and I probably never will because old copies are too expensive.

I should see about breaking out my PS2 though. Still got a ton of games to finish on it, including Chrono Trigger and Cross.

Lost interest in Chrono Trigger part-way through - may have been because I was playing on emulator and it somehow doesn't feel the same as playing on console.

Grandia II was probably my all-time favourite RPG (great music, battle system, story, monsters), followed closely by Skies of Arcadia.

Can we put a space after that colon in the title? It's bothering me more than it should.

Personally I feel that this thread should be about all RPGs that aren't FF. (because that itself deserves its own topic; also Final Fantasy Adventure isn't a FF game, it's a Mana series game.)

So what's currently on the list of RPGs I am playing/need to get back to playing:
Skies of Arcadia
Super Mario RPG (on the actual SNES)
Lufia II (same as SMRPG)
Boktai 1 & 3 (that series counts as RPG, also stealth. Hideo Kojima did good work on it)

If anyone needs some obscure RPGs just give me a call or whatever because I can hook you up. (also if you like an obscure RPG please send it my way)

On the topic of Chrono Trigger, my favorite team is Crono, Ayla, and Frog. I never used triple techs much, and those three seemed to hit the hardest. I did sometimes swap Ayla out for Robo as well.

As for other RPGs, I've heard the Suikoden games are really good. I've never played any of them, have any of you?

Also, I've been playing Super Mario RPG as well, though I'm playing it on the Wii VC.

I'm going to try Phantom Dust and Jade Empire soon enough. I'll let you know how they are if you haven't played them.

My bro played JE when it was new, he didn't like it and I agree with him... it set up a bunch of hype of what it was going to be and failed to be that.

Looked up the other one you mentioned, wikipedia: "Phantom Dust is a pseudo-card-based action/strategy game in which the player collects skills (over 300 total) and takes missions to attempt to discover why Earth is in the condition it is."
I gotta say... it doesn't grab me by the haunches and scream "PLAY WITH MEEEE!" like some games do...

Madican. If you've got a PS3, Legend of Dragoon should be available on the PS store for like $6 or so.

Xbox 360. PS3 is still too pricy for me to drop that much on a system.

And I never heard any hype for Jade Empire so it'll be what it is. Phantom Dust though, I recall being interested by the back-cover story. Especially the bit about the strange dust that grants psychic powers.

Gameplay is secondary to the story when it comes to games I like. That's why I don't particularly like most "Nintendo" RPG's.

I played it. Always kept wondering if taking different decisions would change things around in the game but I haven't started from the beginning again yet. Or finished my first playthrough.
And it's called Tierkreis in English too?

It is. I don't think you can change too much in the game, aside from missing various characters and getting the bad ending.

Started the first Witcher game recently. The combat is booty but I like the series so much that I don't care.
