I want to see Texas. The story could revolve around one final motherlode of oil waiting somewhere out in the wastes, one that everyone in the pre-war era missed. That, or a pre-war oil baron hid one last massive cache somewhere in the Texas wasteland, and your character gets caught up in the struggle to find it.

Itd make more sense if it was a Uranium deposit, since the majority of the remaining infrastructure uses nuclear power.

Driveable vehicles would be cool though.

And giant armadillos, and longhorn Brahmin.

Radiation is too inefficient a killer when there's already a dozen species of spider that do exactly the same thing in a fraction of the time.

There is a giant aquifer that'd potentially go untouched in the event of nuclear disaster. The possible plot line for that could be a mix of 3 and new Vegas where, instead of a dam, and instead of some miracle device that fixes all of the water ever, there's a power struggle over who has control over the only clean water in the entire state.

I'm only hoping that the game takes place 25 to 50 years after the Great War. I liked Fallout 3 and New Vegas, for the most part, except for the fact that it takes 200 years after the nukes hit, IIRC. That just seemed like a load of BS to me, since after 200 years most of the buildings wouldn't look as near-pristine as they did, due to corrosion and other factors. Most of the guns would be unable to function due to deterioration. I'd also like to see how society collapsed after the nukes, how the raiders started out, etc.
Also, more real world weapons. I want Desert Eagles, Winchester shotguns, Glocks, Smith & Wessons, etc.

The Fallout universe already breaks the laws of physics with how their nukes work. 200 years after the bombs there shouldnt even be any residual radiation outside of some hot spots, and nature should have recovered FAR more than it had in 3. New Vegas was better with that, you could see that the forests and whatnot had mostly recovered. Personally, Im not really interested in prequels, I want to see the story progress, I already know how we got to where we are, its fleshed out pretty well in the games.

I'm pretty sure the state of the capital wasteland was because of places like Vault 87 and the super mutants from there. That place is always pumping out more radiation. That and all of the wrecked cars on the roads with decaying nuclear batteries. Old world America wasn't exactly known for their wise safety measures.

Fallout 3 was intended to be very close to after the bombs dropped, which is why everything was in near pristine condition. Then they changed the story and said "Fuck it, it doesn't matter."

I always wondered why theres such huge leaps between the games. In the first, its 80 years since the bombs, and in 2, its 50 years after the first one, and in 3, its 70 years after 2. Vegas was only like a few years, so thats a first.

New Vegas is considered by a lot of people to be the true Fallout 3, so you might as well say it took place so many years after 2, since it picks up on a lot of West Coast story lines.
