I understand that this game's been out for a while, but oh well.

If Doom 3 and Silent Hill ever had a love child, and it was for the DS, Dementium: The Ward would be that lovechild. I'm guessing that the multiple firearms and monster killing is inherited from Doom 3, while the creepy atmosphere, scary monsters and abundance of locked doors came from Silent Hill. The game is divided into sixteen short chapters.
The story starts with you waking up in a room of the Redmoor Hospital. It's raining hard outside, and the sky is pitch black. There is blood everywhere. You get up and see a notepad on the floor. It has only two pages. On the first page is written, "WHY DID YOU DO IT?". There is a key sitting on the notepad. You take both items, unlock the door of your room, and step out into the dark hallway...
Graphics: For a DS game, the graphics are very good. I've never really been overly concerned with graphics in a game, but...well, this game looked very nice.

Controls: The controls for this game are rather unique. The touch screen (where your health meter, notepad, map, item, options buttons and weapons are located) is used to direct the vision of the main character. The Control Pad is used to move. It doesn't take long to get used to the controls (you do get a quick tutorial at the beginning of the game, anyways). There is also a special rectangle on the Touch screen (located above the Health Meter) that only activates when you are in front of a door or an item of interest (items of interest will glow and flash brightly). A green button with either the words "Open" or "Examine" will appear, and you tap it with your Stylus to perform the given action.

Difficulty: The game starts out easily enough, but come Chapter 3, you will encounter an enemy known as the "Flying Crown Head" in the walkways. They attack by flying at high speed at you, and it takes 5-6 shots from the pistol (you get one early in the game). They are very annoying enemies.

My personal score: 8/10. It was fun and scary, but too short, with little replay value.

EDIT: A sequel is under construction, and due to come out around 2010. Whee I graduate from high school that year! X3

Now...discuss!

NEW EDIT: DAISIES I hate the flying crown heads!

The sequel needs to be...

Longer. Much longer. (The different chapters thing works nicely, though)

Definitely more bosses. (5 is a poor number, and that second Cleaver fight didn't count anyways.)

More epic boss battles.

Bring back The Cleaver and The Wheelchair Man.

More/different enemies. (As much as I hate those daisies flying crown heads, they ramp up the scare factor nicely)

Have a MUCH BETTER save system.

MOAR weapons! (I suggest a machete, or a flamethrower)

For teh Wii. X3

Change The Cleaver's name to "The Butcher".

More Silent Hillish music.

Maybe change the story. Say the head doctor sold his soul to Satan, throw in some demons from Hell, upside-down pentagrams (sometimes referred to as "baphomets") drawn in blood, you get the idea.
