WOOHOO! Finally beat the game! Got the head ending. I guess that's the good ending?

Seriously, though. The choir level was the most stressful thing I have ever experienced.

Just started playing.

Not one grunt and i'm already frightened.

The first grunts you see are NOT REAL. Ignore them. They disappear. I think the first REAL grunt is in the Refinery, but he only attacks if you run after him like a dumbass. After that, assume all to be real threats.

You mean the one you see right after the flashback about about it being so dark, right? That one's fake too.

A lot of the early encounters with the different types of enemies are just visual encounters/hallucinations. The hallucinations will poof and disappear if you get too close, the visual ones will walk away and vanish IF you don't run up to them. Early grunts = harmless, early brutes = harmless (I think the first real one is in the Morgue?)
I can't remember exactly which enemies are real or poofers, though. There are a lot. Especially if your sanity gets too low. Mine never got low enough to where monsters would be hallucinated, but it did get the screen to sway back and forth and be very infuriatingly blurry for a while.

Also, tip: Unless you have almost no sanity left, all Kaernks (water monsters) are real threats.
