I still don't understand that. Shouldn't the office lawfully belong to Maya Fey? I don't recall there being a will in which Mia had ceded the office to Phoenix...

Mia would've known that if she died, Maya would be head of Kurain. She would only not be head of Kurain if she died/was killed.

And Phoenix was/is Mia's protege. It would make perfect sense.

Also, Maya knows nothing about law. The end.
