Majora's Mask had very little plot. It just had a lot of characters and good interactions. It's actually one of the lesser-developed plots in the series.

Majora's Mask had a ton of plot it was just not all in one spot. The entire game revolves around all the smaller parts of the whole. Anju was going to marry Kafei but he ran away, her mother is worried and asks you for help while going about her business with that zora dude who goes to the milk bar. The milkbar was supposed to have the Indi go-gos play there but lulu had her eggs stolen and can no longer sing. The Indi go-go's, LuLu's mother in particular, were the inspiration for the Gorman Bother, who is brothers with the people at the Gorman Brother's Ranch who try to steal from Romani's Ranch who supply the Milkbar.

The Plot in Majora's Mask is found in the stories within the story. The Skullkid and the Moon are just the catalyst.

WHat you're referring to is merely the additional fluff that should comprise most games. I won't deny that Majora's Mask has some of the richest sidequests ever, but they hardly fit into the exposition-rising action-climax-denoument of the traditional "story." Skull Kid, the four Giants, etc. is the core. Majora was just a sort of randomly evil entity; it was a cool concept, but that's just straight-up what it is.

Calling the sidequests the plot is sort of like saying Harry Potter is about Quidditch.

Actually, it'd be more akin to saying Harry Potter is about dealing with Voldemort's shemes and other such things instead of a wizard trying to get through magic school.

Hardly. But even then, Major is by far the best Zelda main enemy. The moon scene really sets the tone for how the character see's itself, who it is, and why its doing all these things. You just need to look a little closer, and realise its not evil...its something far worse

Different perspectives, guys. They help.
And when the mask shrug's off the kid, and enters a childlike meadow, what does that show us?

I like how video game players think that a game's plot pertains only to the things that happen in the main story, and doesn't include all that lame shit like imagery, symbolism, and, the thing that is most prominent in Majora's Mask, character development. No one said the plot in Majora's Mask was particularly complicated, like a good long RPG, but it sure as hell was compelling and interesting in many other ways.

I wish I could squeeze more anger and sarcasm into this post because that's how I feel about this discussion, but I really just can't think of anything right now.

Yeah I sort of feel like I'm coming off as an asshole. Majora's Mask is in my top 5 Zelda games, and I appreciate everything about it, it's just that little nitpick that I have with the praisers/players.

Nothing has made me want to play Majora's Mask as much as that article has. I really must get around to playing it, sometime.

Woah.

I never really thought of Majora and The Fierce Deity like that.

What, you wish the main plot of Majora and the Skull Kid was more needlessly complicated? Or are you just annoyed that all four dungeons are working toward the same goal, unlike Twilight Princess or The Wind Waker?

This post was going to start out as a snide comment, but then I thought of that second option, and I just wasn't feeling it. Dang, I am not on the ball with this thread.

Aargh mean things.

Seriously, though, I think the plot of Majora's Mask wasn't too simple or anything like that. I thought it was just the right size.
