I'm spreading the word about this fighting game. Specifically to people who like Japan, to people who like Nintendo, and to people who like fighting games!

Joy Mech Fight, also known as Joy Mecha Fight, is a game for the Famicom, the Japanese version of the NES. It was released after the Super Famicom (the Japanese version of the SNES), and uses the Famicom's audio and visuals to its fullest extent. As for the ploy, like many Nintendo games, it's relatively simple:

Two scientists (Dr. Little Emon and Dr. Ivan Walnuts) make a bunch of robots, one scientist turns evil (Dr. Walnuts) and makes most of the robots evil, so the remaining scientists gets the only robot left to save the day, namely Sukapon.

So yeah, anyway, to have an in-depth analysis of the game, watch this:

I personally would LOVE to play this game, and I've been hoping for a long time to see Sukapon appear in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable character (he appeared in Brawl as a sticker, so it's a start). Spread the word of this game, and show the review to friends, and who knows, maybe we'll see it released on the Wii's Virtual Console in America. It always is on the Virtual Console in Japan.

I knew I saw you there. I enjoy some good YCPT every now and again.

Anyway I thought it looked pretty cool, and I'd love to play it on the virtual console. Even though I don't have a wii.

Also the link is broken. fix'd.

This story sounds very familiar.... but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Watched the video. My opinion? Not even worth picking up. See, while it may have been very influential and a great game at the time, its been VASTLY out-superior'd, in every way, by subsequent fighting games, and since it never saw the light of day outside of the east, there's no nostalga factor whatsoever.

The game never came out in the west. Nintendo don't have a version to actually put up on the VC, and they generally don't like translating full games just for that. Especially when nearly all of the VCers didn't even hear of the game before.

Pulseman was put on the virtual console in america, and that didnt get an american release. (does SEGA channel count? because I'm not counting that. Even then it still wasn't translated to english.) There may be others, but that's the only one off the top of my head.

Besides, just because it's outdated doesn't mean it isn't fun. Like, final fantasy. I really like the first one, even though all the other ones after it have out-superior'd it.

You missed where I said it had no nostalga factor. If it's entirely outperformed and there's no nostalga at all, then it isn't fun. Or, fun enough to play instead of the better games.
