For me, in a nutshell, Dying Light was great. It wasn't mind-blowingly-fantastic, but it wasn't bad, not at all. The gameplay is solid, save for a few minor ticks, combat is straight forward and only rarely throws a brick at your face, and the parkour is some of the best I've dealt with, no system is perfect, but this one comes pretty close. Story is alright, not Nobel prize material, and it can be predicable. It looks fuckin' fantastic, and I'm playing on Low Quality settings most of the time. And, at the end of the day, watching a zombie/bandit you just flung/dropkicked off the top of a apartment building tumble to the street below is always amusing, and dodging the more dangerous infected in the dead of night isn't getting old on me either. Not to mention, the boys and girls behind the game are already set on more content, more quests to kill zombies, more things to kill zombies with, more places to kill zombies at, and more outfits so you can look good whist killing zombies.
As for the co-op, none of my Steam friends have Dying Light, either due to lack of funds or an overload of zombie survival games, perfectly understandable reasons, but if I say I find fuckin' with the undead during the day and running away from them like a little baby during the night fun, imagine how fun it would be if I could find three like-minded individuals who also have cheddar to burn.
To give the long and the short, I love this game. Am I hopelessly lost in it, playing it day in and day out? No. Will I pull it up once in a while when I could go for a laugh? Totally.
8/10 Best dropkicking simulator.
