If you haven't heard of it yet there's a Free To Play game on Steam called Archeblade. It's a very Anime Style 3D online multiplayer fighting game. I've been playing it since April and it's quickly become the game that takes up most of my gaming time.
Since it's a Korean made title based on a Korean Light Novel there is still very little of the story that has made its way over to the states. As far as I can tell there is an Undead Queen that conquers and controls various champions and she is resisted by a limited number of heroes. The story is not yet featured in the game though so you don't have to worry about being confused by senseless cinematics. The game has living, undead, and robotic characters. There are, so far, humans, elves, and dwarves available for playable characters.
The gameplay is what hooked me, though. The game seems like a button masher at first but you quickly learn, as you play against more experienced players, that the game is actually extremely skill based. Like older online games it doesn't really hold your hand. It gives you a very basic tutorial and throws you to the wolves (Which I love!) There are Ranger, Tank, Controller, and Glass Cannon type characters. There are Free For All modes as well as various team modes in some very interesting maps.
The characters run on a rotation, like any Free to Play game, but unlike most F2P game you needn't actually spend a dime to remain competitive. If you really like the game but can't afford to spend cheddar on it you can still get good with every character and be able to dominate no matter who is currently on the free rotation.
If you'd like to know more, here is the link to their Indiegogo Page.
http://igg.me/at/archeblade/x/4777025The game is still in production and they are currently trying to raise funds to finish it. I'm not trying to gather donations for them, though. The page simply does a much better job of describing the game than the Steam Store does and features better gameplay videos. If you play it and like it maybe consider throwing them a couple bones. If you like it but can't afford to donate then it'll still be great for all of us current players to see another regular face. If you don't like it then you'll have lost nothing but a few minutes of your time.
If you find yourself with some free time and an Online Fighter that features such things as robot dwarves or giant undead samurai sounds good to you maybe give it a shot. If you have any questions feel free to contact me on Steam or ask them right here. (Cytrode is my Steam Name) If you like the design of the game but are having trouble with the gameplay I'd be pop flyin' to set up a server to give you a crash course on advanced play.
