I'm assuming they still do suicide high-sec ganking.

Goonswarm does no longer exist, at least not in that form. Their leader forgot to pay the Alliance bills, they lost sovereignty, and IT Alliance moved into the now sovereignty-less regions of Delve and Querious.

Ironically this all happened exactly one year after GoonSwarm destroyed BoB and took Delve for themselves, which happened one year after BoB took Delve. It's like there's a curse on Delve, and I expect Something Awful (pun intended) to happen to IT Alliance around December this year.

This is a map showcasing the current way sovereignty is spread:

As you can see, Delve and Querious now belong to IT Alliance, and they're already moving into Fountain and Period Basis. So if you know what's good for you, you stay away from IT Alliance.

EDIT: changed 'after Delve took that area' to 'after BoB took Delve', because I meant to say 'BoB' in the former, but typed 'Delve'.

I've played the EVE online trial two times. I was excited like never before (I'm a big fan of space ships and stuff), but I'm not dedicated enough to join a big corp and play like so many hours per day.

Holy shit. Just looking at this map makes me imagine how awesome the territory wars must be.

Would be cool though, if everyone signed up for the 14-day trial (if it still exists) and played together in a fleet, just to see what happens. Might be fun, might not be.

Thing with this game is if you want to get anywhere in it you're going to have to invest an assload of time.

That's only true if you want to mess around in large fleet battles with battleships and capital ships. There's great fun to be had in frigates, too. A fleet of frigates can bring down a battleship. I still occasionally fly in my Rifter (frigate), even though I now have a Dominix (battleship).

My biggest "problem" in EVE was the "What now...?" part. I didn't know what to do next. I was too scared to go anywhere because I don't like the idea of warping long distanses if you would forget something important on a station somewhere, 26 jumps away.

I would say that the game doesn't tell you how it wants you to play it, which of course might be the charm of it, but I did find it a little confusing.

The best thing to do if you don't know what to do, is join a player corporation. They usually have corporate goals, and you can assist them in whatever way you want. Most people eventually train skills for PvP, since roaming lowsec and nullsec for kills is the most exciting part of EVE, but simply being part of a team and achieving goals with them is very rewarding on its own.

I did play it for a while and my interest has peaked again, but I am probably not going to subscribe again just now. I want to wait a little while before doing that.

If I were to start playing again I would get into trading. I can almost fly the Charon. It's less than a day left of training to do it. I would just need something to transport.
