It's been a while since I've tried to play Chain of Memories, but from what I recall, you set down the rooms you want to go to and they pretty much tell you what's in them. Katie's just crazy.

This comic's referring to the white halls of Castle Oblivion in between each world, which are all static and don't have anything in them except save points.

Final Fantasy games have impressed upon me a terrible hording mentality and similar distrust of empty rooms being actually empty.

"Why are you still carrying your starting sword and armor in your inventory?!"

I MIGHT NEED IT FOR A CRAFTING RECIPE FOR THE ULTIMATE WEAPON OR MAYBE IT WILL BE STORY SIGNIFICANT

"Ok, but why are you sliding across every wall and pressing "X"?

BECAUSE ONE OF THESE PIXELS MIGHT HAVE A HIDDEN BONUS ITEM THAT I'LL KEEP UNTIL I NEED IT

It only looks crazy, it's actually learned behavior from odd design in early games!
They sure did a lot with a little, when it came to combat mechanics or graphics limitations. But a lot of the "secrets" they came up with were just plain nonsense.
