I always thought it was funny how the enemy would just go after my stupidly powerful dudes after watching their friends get slaughtered one after the other

Having played a lot of Fire Emblem Heroes, this is pretty accurate. Hector's just about the only launch unit that's stayed top tier without dropping to this day.

Jokes on Oswin, Hector's gonna be so leveled after all this.

Some rudimentary guesswork on my part based on my experience with Fire Emblem from 7 all the way to the horrible weeb trash it's become tells me that Intelligent Systems enemies prioritize who they can do damage to, putting their survival as unimportant.

They prioritize potential kills, who they can damage without fear of counterattack, who they can do effective damage to (Bows > Pegasii), and then who's in their attack radius.

Not too sure about the ordering of the middle two.

XD i love it when they just slaughter themselves on the only unit in range but it can backfire if they take too many hits. The AI in fe4 however was smart enough not to attack someone they cannot hit so Levin with Holsety in the forest tile was completely ignored once he leveled up and got enough speed that their 1% chance of hitting him was now 0%

They might do 1-3 damage but gosh darn that'll add up after the 20th unit or so

It's fun watching that happen in real time, like, 'yes, into the meat grinder! Hahaha!! Ha ha... ...okay you can stop now! YOU CAN STOP NOW!!' -Hector dies-

When I first started playing Fire Emblem I would often line up my units in a wall when playing defense, expecting the enemy to honorably charge each individual for some sort of epic, 90s action cartoon intro one on one bouts.

Yeah the enemy didn't do that. Instead just flinging themselves at one unit in particular to wear him down/kill him. Honor less CPU bastards.

It's weird how being too good at breaking a stalemate and killing everyone in front of them is what got my units killed more often than not.

Come on I know you don't like it but do you have to be so negative? I like Awakening and Fates...

It's not actually that fun, the eighth time you are replaying a stage, three and a half hours into your repeated attempts the same battle, because this keeps happening over and over and there's bodaciously no way to stop it. Often the only way you can actually survive and beat a stage is if your strongest unit *misses*, and that unit has a 98% hit chance and performs two attacks.

It's actually fucking infuriating that you can get too strong to win.
