I like to think that Stardew Valley just has really sturdy trees and soil and the like while the monsters are as fragile as paper.

Alternatively, dungeons are the only place your soul isn't being slowly devoured.

Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon is a spin-off/side-series of Harvest Moon which features combat and magic.

Lastly, the game in the comic isn't Harvest Moon - it's Stardew Valley, a game styled after Harvest Moon - most specifically it relates heavily to HMDS. Including the fact that the mine is full of enemies to fight.
