Am I weird for much more preferring Katie's flat-chested, muscular model of Zero Suit Samus than the controversial Smash 4 model? I mean, I know I'm weird, but am I right?

I'd hardly call her Smash 4 model "controversial", but if you like more muscular girls, that's your thing and no one would judge you for that.

There's a few ones, but they seem to be less popular nowadays ('dadits', link with that hammer-swinging wand thing, and that kinda stuff)

"Guns" can also refer to "big muscles", or stuffs like that. So yknow, "where the guns at?", well look at em biceps.

About the Smash4 controversy, Samus' "attractiveness" is somewhat controversial, but it's not so much about that (because that comes from back in Zero Mission and Brawl) than it is about adding high heels.
