I'm pretty sure the Magicant stage in Smash Bros Wii U/3DS is actually the one from the first Mother (or EarthBound Beginnings if you prefer its new US title).

Yeah, it's Queen Mary's Magicant, not Ness'.

That is why I don't get it. Never played Mother (sorry.

I plan to eventually) and don't have the 3DS version of Sm4sh.

Smash Bros Magicant is kind of a mix, really.

It physically resembles the one from Beginnings, and has Flying Men, who are in both. However, it's also got Dungeon Man, Octopus statues, and Mobile Sprouts, from Earthbound, and the images that appear in the back can either be from Beginnings or Earthbound.

So, yeah, it's totally valid for it to be connected to Ness.

The Sonic fan inside me in screaming in joy that Katie finally drew Sonic, however that same fan is jumping all over the fact that Sonic's arms are not blue. That's Boom Sonic, not regular Sonic (And, yes, there is a difference). Oh well, nothing a little edit can fix...

As someone who has also never played Earthbound/Mother, where does the birdman play into it?

Because as you can see by my avi I just can't take kindly to those bird men types.
