Ok, I'm PROBABLY going to have to explain myself, so I might as well get it out of the way.

I'm Syrp, never heard of me, I type with perfect spelling, grammar, hyperbole's, onomatopoeia's, all the things no one knows about. That's me, deal with it.

THERE.

Now, on with the C.Y.A. *Most people wont get that joke.*

Now, I'm going to sound SOOOO NOOB for asking this, but, daisies, I JUST got a graphics tablet.
I have, recently, been admiring, um... (I hope you don't mind, but I am going to have an argument within my own mind. I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to refer to the artist of these comics as Katie, as I have seen herself and many people call her. For example, it might be more suiting if I say, "I have been recently admiring the Awkward Zombie comics" as opposed to, "I have been admiring Katie's comics" Since I am, well new. I don't know her, so, um. Yes.)

Lets start that over.

I have recently been checking Awkward Zombie every week, (Ah, sweet, sweet peace in my own mind.) and, wanting to draw just like she does, but not in the copyright infringement way, I'm going to go out and ask it.

How do you draw so well? I know you use photoshop, probably to edit it appropriately, or, no? You draw pretty well, I just want to know your procedure.

I promise in NO way will I copy you, I just want to know how the "intertube" folk do whatever they do on the computer.

I seem SO newbie for asking this, and I realize this, but, I sort of don't care if you think that or not.

KTHXBAI

Umm... Make sure you can draw with pencil first. Because if you can only draw crap with a pencil, no matter how much sparkly computer filters you put on it, it'll still end up like crap.

As for actually learning how to draw... uh. Take an art class if you can. Learn about the principles and elements of design. If you really like Katie's style, copy her drawings just as practice. And to keep yourself looking like a total copycat, also look at other artists you like, observe what exactly do you like about the way they draw, and incorporate those elements into your own art.

But most importantly, always try something different. If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, your art will become increasingly stale one after the other and you'll never improve.

Not sure if this is Katie's Method Of Drawing (tm), but I think it's a good start. :eng101:

Oh, and by the way, lavish introductions go here.

Just to be an booty: the second comma should be a question mark to shorten the sentence, the comma after onomatopoeia should be a semicolon and "no one" should be hyphenated.

It's a secret hidden technique only used by the most elite members of the drawing community!

I think it's called "Practice" nowadays.

Oh god, it's the "bet you never played" thread all over again.
To clarify, people on the internet are from all over the world and from all ages. Your own little circle of friends do not count as everyone ever. Nearly all of us use hyperboles and onomatopoeias.

Although not often.[/b]

(S)he's probably a lot younger than any of us.

That or (s)he lives with pretty dumb people. :\

I draw in "Adobe Illustrator" using a mouse and keyboard.

But it take long time to make good.

TYPE LIKE YOU MEAN IT GOSH daisies I DON'T KNOW

If you're asking what programs and malarky I use, I just do everything from start to finish in Macromedia Flash with a simple Wacom nowadays.

Or procedure? After panelling out your panels, a ton of Internet Comiquérs (and I) start out with an undersketch and then only go over it in "ink" after they like how it's composed in the sketch. I would suggest it, since it helps you see the whole product before you actually put anything down for reals. Not everyone does that but it comes in handy.

But if you just want to get GOOD AT DRAWIN' the only thing I can tell you is to practice. Your tools are only as good as what's behind them, but I think everyone's already said about the same thing so there you go.

Basically....practice is the main thing, and if you don't know how,
ask someone to help you learn.
But the main thing I always say is you have to love drawing,
your heart has to be into what it is your doing, or it will turn
out sloppy and not as good as you would hope it would be.
My advice is get into an art class or ask someone u know who loves to draw help you.

Ok..... I'm not going to even attempt to answer all of these...

Well, here we are.

First off, I figured practice was a big part of it, I can draw, just I cant make it look polished and professional like she does. I'm not THAT naive. *Sorry don't know and don't care how to spell that the actual way.*
Oh, and thanks Katie.

Second, I heard something about me being very young or being around idiots all the time.
...
Both. I'm 13, and all my friends are idiots. Lets just say I type with perfect grammar for my age.

Thank you everyone for helping, but, Katie sort of got it more then anyone. Not to offend anyone, but, I pretty much figured practice is the key, but, you can be the best cook in the world, but without the right ingredients, you can't make a good dish.

Ok, that was a bad metaphor, but I am in NO mood to make a better one, so, pleeeease just take it.

EDIT: Ok, I just might have to edit this a few times.

*sigh*
Um.... Did I say my circle of friends is anyone ever? Did it ever occur to you that I might be just exaggerating? Maybe, just maybe, I might be saying that for the kicks and giggles?

Whatever, think what you want, I don't need to explain my self.'

Um... Thank you?

I guess to shorten the sentence, yes, but, its more of stating a fact then asking a question. I should have said, "I'm Syrp. You've never heard of me." MY BAD.
And the comma semicolon thing, well, uh, yeah. My mistake. I'm off the ball today.

BY THE WAY.

(S)he is actually a he.

I can relate, I'm 14 and all of my friends are in at least one remedial, intensive, whatever you wanna call it class.

also, perfect grammar isn't something most of us care about. As long as you don't talk like this:
OMG NOOB LOL ROFLCOPTER HAXOR PH33R MAI L33T U PATETIC NUBS.
you should be fine.

Aha!!! Thank you. No, I am most certainly not like that. Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin.

Why are people making a big deal on me saying I have perfect grammar? Hm...
